I have not posted on this forum FOREVER it seems. If anyone remembers me, a while back I was having a hard time deciding if surgery was the best choice... well I am PostOp now. I switched surgeons and proceedure (I had VSG) in December- and felt so at peace with it all. I am so glad I did this. Anyway, here is a question for you all. Which it may sound simple/dumb, but lately I haven't know what side was up... so here it is: Regarding prayer: As we know, all prayers are 'answered' in one way or another... but how much affect do you think spirtuality plays in deciphering the true answers? If someone has not been as faithful, is it harder for them to receive the guidence from Heavenly Father? Thoughts?

My personal feelings are that if we are not "in tune" spiritually with our Heavenly Father then we may not recognize some of the guidance he's trying to send our way. The more spiritually in tune we are, the more we'll recognize his works. As far as if someone in thier past has been remote from the church and then repents and asks for guidance, I think Heavenly Father is more than willing to send us that guidance. Remember Alma the younger in the Book of Mormon and the sons of Mosiah? They were pretty rebellious as youth and did some hurtful things toward the church, but they repented and became very righteous men. Just my own thoughts on the matter. Congratulations on your surgery. Melody

First of all, congratulations on the success of your surgery. Glad to see you are feeling better. As far as answers to prayer goes, I do agree with what Melody said and I would add that it is up to us to make sure we are doing and living the way that our Father in Heaven wants us to live in order to be worthy to receive the guidence we seek. The answers may come in such subtle ways as not to overwhelm us or it may knock us upside the head to get us to wake up! Reading our patrichial blessings, studying the scriptures daily and a mountain of other things will aid in our getting the spiritual help we need from time to time. Donna

MM, How are you doing with the Vertical Gastrectomy? Are you planning on having the full DS at a later date? I haven't checked the Mormonism board for a while and it's neat to find someone who has a tummy just like mine, LOL! Laurie
