Topic: RE: This place needs a makeover!!!!
Thanks Gala!
I agree with you on the main message board. Even though I just turned 53, I often don't feel comfortable on the Over Fifties Forum because our values are so different. I virtually bite my tongue so often! There are some great people there and I will still go there, but I NEED this forum.
I agree! Let's get rolling!!!

Topic: RE: Sunday's Getting to Know you Questions
Gala, thanks for doing this! You're the bestest!
1: Where are you from?
I am from Michigan but after being a military wife and living in many places, I live in San Antonio, TX. Even tried living back in MI for a few years but dh can't take the winters.
2: How long have you been a member of the church?
34years. I was 18 when I joined.
3: Post-Op or Pre-Op? Pre-ops..where are you at in this process? Post ops how far out are you?
I am post-op 5 months. My how time goes by.
4: Children? Married? Divorced? Single? Widowed?
Married to present dh for almost 17 yrs. 3 daughters, 2 sons, 2 step-daughters, 1 step-son. You didn't ask for grandchildren but here goes. 23 grandchildren 1great-grandson. (I must admit I am too young for that but who cares he's the cutest!)
5: Would you like to see the LDS Message board more active? If so, Why or why not?
Oh yes! I would love to see this board more active. It would be great to have a board where I can just discuss the things that are important to me and have people understand what I am talking about. I don't really know how to express just what I mean but maybe it is that I need to chat with people who share my values. I often feel like an outsider even on the Over Fifties Forum where I go most of the time.
6: Children - Home School or Public School?
When my children were young, they went to public school. I didn't realize there was homeschooling. I don't think I am disciplined enough to do it. I do teach art to homeschool families though and love the concept.

Topic: Sunday's Getting to Know you Questions
Here we go...I will do the first set of questions.
1: Where are you from?
2: How long have you been a member of the church?
3: Post-Op or Pre-Op? Pre-ops..where are you at in this process? Post ops how far out are you?
4: Children? Married? Divorced? Single? Widowed?
5: Would you like to see the LDS Message board more active? If so, Why or why not?
6: Children - Home School or Public School?
Okay..I think this is enough for "today". LOL
Here are my answers:
1: I live in Dodgeville, Wisconsin.
2: I was baptised just over 15 yrs ago.
3: Post Op. I am 6 weeks out this coming Tuesday. I have lost around 40 lbs.
4: Married, although somedays I wonder how I have made it the last 10.5 yrs.
We have 3 children. Corry we adopted 6 yrs ago this month from LDSSS, Corry lives in a treatment home and was supposed to be transitioned to a treatment foster home this last week...that is another hole post in itself.
Abigayle is 5 and Bryant is 2. Both are biological children.
5: Of course I would!! Anything would be an improvement that what it is now. I feel so much that the other forums are just not what I am looking for. They all have their quirks and just don't seem to meet what I am looking for. I belong to 2 different LDS Yahoo groups. I am the moderator to both of them - One is for WLS and People who are hoping to loose weight on their own. (it is a sub group).
6: Nope no homeschooling here. Many days I feel that it is the best thing the goverment can provide for nearly free of charge!!! I love my children..but I will not homeschool!

Topic: This place needs a makeover!!!!
Good Morning Brothers and Sisters,
Kaye sent me an email the other day and wondering a few things. One of them was if I thought having some sort of question of the day like there is another forum would be helpful for this forum. I think she was very smart her thinking!!! Cause that is what we need. And some other things too.
I frequent the Over 50 Forum daily. I am not 50 or anywhere near it. All though I have made some great online friendships there I truelly feel that I don't belong. The main message board stinks....and so here we are!! Just "US"...so lets get this place rolling and get a makeover...

Topic: RE: Enrichment night and food
You did something that not many people would have done. You spoke up! Your R.S. president had probably never thought about it before. By speaking up and making her aware I'm sure that more sisters will partake of the refreshments when the changes are made.
Way to go girl - you did good.

Topic: RE: Oh, my! Frustration!
Kaye - I'm sorry that you're having so many problems. Must be very frustrating. I haven't had any strictures so I can't give you any advice about that. I just wanted you to know that we're here for you.

Thanks Sherrie,
I truly need them!
I hear you on the appetite. I want a sandwich so bad!!! The appetite is there but I can't eat! I liked it better when I didn't get hungry. It was easier.

Topic: RE: ROLL CALL!!
I've lost 46, so that equals 724......what a bunch of losers!!!!!
congrats to us!!
Topic: RE: Oh, my! Frustration!
I am so sorry to hear about the troubles you are having Kaye. Thankfully I dont have any stricture problems. My biggest problem is the return of a ferocious appetite. And nightmares about waking up 368 lbs again. I will remember you in my prayers!

Topic: Oh, my! Frustration!
I spoke to my GI Dr. today. He told me I am not to be eating fruits and vegetables.
Won't be abe to for some time. Bummer.
I maybe getting another stricture and because I have had so many, surgery is next!
I am hoping that my new difficulty eating is due to my cold. My pouch is so much smaller than usual (not much for surgeon to work with) that I am hoping it is just filling with mucous. Dr said he hopes so for my sake. Oh my, this is just getting so old and I am trying not to get discouraged but it is harder all the time.
I know others have it harder than I and I am grateful things aren't worse. Still, I am tired of what is going on. You know things are unusual when the staff at the endoscopy clinic hug you when you come in. lol
Does anyone here have stricture problems?
Please remember me in your prayers.
Grins,
Kaye
