Hi, sorry it took so long to get to you. I still struggle to get the rest of my weight off. I even regained some and have to get rid of that as well. I am very concerned about this. I try to do a low carb diet. The only way I can seem to maintain is to limit myself to 20 carbs a day. Not much is it. I tried the South Beach plan and got nowhere. Maybe I will try to do both like you have been doing. Grins, Kaye

Linda, I am so excited for you. Just remember that the inside you is still you! As a matter of fact, I still don't remember that people who haven't seen me since I have lost the weight, don't recognize me. I get quite hurt sometimes. I still feel like me and don't always remember I don't look like me anymore! lol As for being an interesting ride... You betcha!!! lol Take care, Grins, Kaye

Kaye, I just looked at your profile and no way do you look 54. I'm starting to wonder if I could end up looking younger after this journey. That might be nice. I'm 61 and a little late thinking about the surgery. You said you were born in Texas, well I have only been here for 13 years. Lived in Idaho for a year and a half before graduating from high school, and then two years at Ricks College, way back in the day. My parents met in Pocatello and had their first five children there. Moved to Oregon where I the sixth was born. But we traveled back to Idaho every year to see family. So have spent a fair about of time there in my life. Would prefer the weather, to this constant heat in Texas. Thanks for responding to my date message, I'm glad this is happening fast, so I don't chicken out. Linda Woods

Linda, It will be 1 year on July 11th. It has been a ride, but very much worth it. I have so much more enegry, that spills over into all I do. I think I have grown spiritual also, and that I did not realize what I was missing. Congr. on your surgery date, I started at 293/298 and as of Thursday I am at 177. I want to lose another 27 pounds. SO I need to get more excerise in and get rid of it. Eating healthy is important also, follow your doctors and listen to your body and all will go well. Have a great 4th. Well, ladies her I go! I just told another forum, that I hoped I liked the thin person in me emerging, haven't seen her in so long not sure what I'll think of her. So many years of experience since I was a thin woman. Not only experience in everyday life, but the spiritual me is much different than I was thirty five years ago. As I am 61, this should be an interesting ride. Linda in Texas P.S. would like some updates of some of you folks that have allready had surgery.

Hi Annette, welcome to our little community. I just returned from a temple marithon (marithon for me anyway), I was able to do three consecutive sessions. That's a big one for me. Our temple is two hours away from us so it's been an all dayer for me. Good luck and hope to see you back here often. We need someone to stir us up once in a while. Melody

Annette, I was told we all have fatty livers if we're overweight. Thats why I'm on a low carb, low fat diet prior to surgery. Perhaps I missunderstood, but I suspect that as young as you are the Dr. prefers the less invasive surgery, much less risky. Heck I'm 61, and going for the big fix, rather take the chance this way than having to go back and have the second surgery. LOL Linda in Texas

I'd been tossing around the idea of gastric bypass for a few years since a know a number of members here in MT as well as in UT who've had it done. My husband was pretty nervous due to side effects, risks, etc. I went to have a work up on my kidney stones with the nephrologist and he ordered a CAT Scan. The radiologist told him that I have fatty liver from being obese. My hubby and I had already discussed that I should have the lap band, but I said to my doc, "I want to have GB". He said, "No you don't, you want to have the Lap Band." Weird! We talked about it, and the next day I called Dr. Rohrer in Great Falls and made an appt. I saw him last month and since then I've been working on the pre-auth. My appt with the cardiac doc is in about 1/2 hour, so I'll be heading out. I can't wait to get the lap band and start on the road to recovering my health. I want to lose the sleep apnea and the high blood pressure pills! Can't wait to learn from all of you! Have a wonderful day!
