Topic: size 10 temple dress
Hello everyone, I havent posted here very often. I just found this forum not long ago, but I had to share my good news with you. We went to the temple Friday night and I decided that it was finally time to get a new dress. My old one was a 26/28 and it was way to big. I am a year out now and my weight loss has slowed down a great deal. I tried on several but the one that fit me the best was a size 10. I couldnt believe it. I would never have imagined that I would be in a size ten. My other good news is that I just booked my registration to Education week. I have always wanted to go to education week and it was just never possible for one reason or another. I am soooooo excited. My husband and I attended sympsium for seminary teachers about 7 years ago and it was such an awesome experience. I am figuring that education week will be similar. Thanks for letting me share my joy. Lynn

Joyce, always glad to hear what the long haul looks like! The reality, etc. I of course am still pre-op. But I suspect not for long. I have bloodwork, swallow barium, scan gal bladder today. And on Friday see the surgeon one more time. Well that is if all the paperwork gets together in a timely manner. I suspect I am one of those that could become inclined to regain, so appreciate all the advice I can get. Plenty hot here in Texas, but not 108, thank goodness! I have lots of days, when I prefer not to leave the house, and that was never the case in my younger years. But then when I was young, I lived in Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Hawaii so had better weather to deal with. The cost of living is cheap in Texas, but the climate is horendous. Linda

Topic: Happy Hot Summer to everyone!
Sooooo....it's the middle of June and it's 108 degrees here in Chandler, Arizona! Hot! Hot! Hot! How is everyone doing on their weight loss this summer? .... I've recently started working for Dr. Terry Simpson (again)...he's a lapband surgeon here in Phoenix. My first day on the job I scolded everyone for having naughty stuff in the kitchen and told them that I had gained 20 pounds last year while I was working for there! Sooooo....we've all organized an office weight loss challenge! It's great and keeps me honest! LOL! We are weighing in each Friday morning...and, I've lost 18 pounds of my 30 pound regain! .....12 more to go! ... I"m 3 1/2 years post-op and had a hard time with keeping the weight off after my honeymoon period had ended.... It's a lifetime battle and I'm determined to see the 130's again this summer!!! Anyway...here's my plan: I eat South Beach Lifestyle every day but on Tues, Weds and Thursday of each week I do like straight protein (DETOX) to make sure my body stays in ketosis and to jumpstart my weight loss. On those 3 days I do NOT count calories so I look at it as kind of a break actually. On the other days, I count calories. What types of eating plans are the rest of you doing? Have any of you had any regain that you've had to worry about yet? Huggggz, Joyce in az P.S. Thanks bunches to all those *****sponded so warmly to my post about losing my friend to WLS.

Welcome back Donna. I wondered what you've been up to. Congratulations on your goal. I've surpassed my doctor's goal of 150 pounds for me. I knew that I wouldn't be content at that weight. My body agreed as my body continued to lose weight. I've stabled off at 120 lbs (according to my scales at home). I've been this weight for a year and a half now. I wear a size 6 dress and a size small blouse. A size 10 jeans and a size 8 skirt. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would be at this weight. I still don't believe it until I see a picture of me. Keep up the good work Donna. Maybe this summer will afford you a little more time to get back on the board. Love, Melody

Congratulations on meeting your goal. I want to get to 150 also and my weight is wanting to stay the same. I am at 165 and holding but I want to get to 150 or even 145 by next year. I am terrified of bounce back weight gain and I am really comfortable where I am now so I figure if I can get another 15 or even 20 off in this my second year then I will be safe. But the scale doesnt want to cooperate. I am also grateful to the Lord for his help in getting this surgery and doing well with it. What a blessing it has been in my life. Love Lynn

Topic: HELLO!
I am so sorry that I have been away for so long, and I am going to try to do better about staying in touch. I have just been so busy and keeping busy with my family, and church callings. I miss everyone here and I pray that all is well. I just catching up on some of the posts and I see that a lot has been happening. I am praying for all and especially for Debra. So sorry about everything. On a happy note, with my anniversary approaching, I have met my goal of 150 lbs. and I feel great! I would not go back to my old life for anything. I can wear a bathing suit and I am in nicer clothes. Size 16's and I am very happy. I didn't think that this is possible and I am so thankful to the Lord for allowing me to have gone through this experience. Gotta go! Will find a picture to show you my new look soon. Love, Donna

Yes Barbra...this board doesn't get much action. So, I don't check everyday. Yes #2. I had my first stall at about 3 weeks. It lasted a little bit until my body caught up with the loss in weight. You will have many more too. don't get discouraged. Take measurements and record them. Many times when you hit a plateau, you will notice that you continue to lose inches. Its just part of the journey....you'll get where you want. You definitely aren't the first person an early stall has happened to. Christy

Hi Barbara, I think we've all hit a stall in our weight loss as we go through our journey. Be patient and do what you're supposed to do and all of a sudden you'll see a good drop. Your body may just be thinking it's in a "starvation mode" and trying to do it's best to hang on to whatever it still has. If you keep on eating the way you're supposed to, your body will realize you're really not trying to starve it and you'll see a drop in the scales. A piece of advice from me (for whatever it's worth), don't skip meals. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Your body needs to know that you're not trying to starve it by giving it a little nutrition after a night's sleep with nothing to eat. If you could add dairy, that would help also. Good luck, we've all been there. Melody

Where is everyone? No new posting for a while. I have a question for you post ops out there. Did any of you hit a stall in weight lose about 3 weeks out. I have been the same weight for about 1 1/2 weeks it is really starting to bug me. Anyone know why this is? I posted on the main board yesterday asking the same thing. Even if the scales went down a little bit I would feel so much better. Barbara in Vancouver WA
