Melody, of course a word of prayer is a given! As to your already having put her name in the Temple - well all I have to say to that is that your picture and profile give an image of a very spiritual and in tune individual. Having surfed for awhile, prior to finding the Mormonism group, it was amazing to me how many times, I would read about someone or see their picture, and know they were sisters in the "gospel concept of sisters". I'm impressed with your courage to have this surgery when you have the added trial of MS. And thank you so much for welcoming me to this forum. I've had a few weak moments thinking through this surgery, but DH fell off a ladder yesterday, broke his wrist quite badly, he weights 275, had DS not been here, I would have not be able to help him up. More reason to get this weight off, and as he was hesitating a bit, I think it has made him realize he needs to go forward. He has many more complications than I do, so will take him longer to get through all the clearances, but I believe he is more determined now than he was a week ago. Linda In Texas

I'm so sorry to hear that she has had a setback. I will keep her in my prayers this weekend and hopefully she will be back home again soon. Christy

I just got off the phone with Richard (Barbara Hansen's DH). I called to check up on her. Much to my surprise, Richard told me that Barbara was in the hospital in the ICU with Pneumonia. Please let's keep her in our prayers. I went to the temple today without knowing her cir****tances and felt impressed to put her name on the temple prayer list. I called her when I got home from the temple just to learn of her news. Please add her to your prayers. Melody

Barbara, I am very new here, but have just returned from the Nutritionist only a couple of hours ago. And the Bariatric group I am seeing gave me list of things I can eat, etc. I have not had surgery yet, but will soon. This Nutritionist says two weeks on clear liquids, pretty much what other folks are saying it would appear. Linda In Texas

Every surgeon's program is different. I'm a bit apauled that they haven't given you a "straight' forward 'menu'/program you can follow. My husbands surgeon was more lienant than mine. For me it was full liquids for 2 weeks. After that I graduated to "soft" foods. And it was VERY gradual. 1/2 scrambled egg, then cottage cheese, ect ect. If you can tolerate milk at this point. And you've done well and feeling okay. Try some cottage cheese. No MORE than a medicine cup. you are only 1 week post op. Think of your tummy as a new born baby. Seriously!! It gets boring. Oh my goodness I was DYING to be able to eat something. And I had my 2 week appt. ON my 2 week day. I didn't wait for the "go ahead". That morning I had myself a nice lil (1/2) scrambled egg and I savored every bite of it. I wanted to chew something. Chewing was what I missed most. This too shall pass!! Trust me. At nearly 2 yrs post op. It does past. Hang in there. Gala

Barbara, did they give you any kind of handouts on what kind of time frame you'll be on liquids then graduating to soft foods? I know before I had my surgery during my pre-op days I was given papers after papers after papers. I read what was pertinent at the time and then just kind put the others away. I wonder if there is anything in that stack of papers that might give you anykind of time frame for eating and advancing. I hope you're feeling better. If you're not doing better by day 8, contact your doctor or your surgical support person at the hospital. Good luck- you're still in my prayers, I have a chance to go back to the temple on Friday, if I do I'll put your name back on the prayer list. (I'm excited, this means I've been able to go 4 times in one month - great place to be) Melody

I came home from the hospital yesterday. What can I eat? I have had soup, apple juice, jello, yogurt. Carnation Instant Breakfast. What else can I eat and how long do I have to stay on this? I keep asking the Dr. and Dietian and neither really give me a straight answer. I am getting a little bored with this menu. Is there something out htere that I should know about. Barbara

Hey a 14/16 is WAY Better than a 28/30!! That is what I think. I flucuate between a 10/12 (mostly 12's these days) and I continually have to remind myself that it is WAY better than a 30/32!! I'm so glad you were able to get the infusion!! Just in time to lead you on a busy few weeks of life!! Thanks for the update!! Love, Gala
