Topic: RE: What is your calling?
I've been in the primary for the past 8 years. At first I was the primary choristor. I ABSOLUTELY loved that calling. When my MS got so bad that I couldn't move around like a choristor needs to, I became a primary teacher. My heart is in the primary. This year I teach the 10-11 year olds. I love these kids.
Before the primary I was in the Relief Society as the Homaking Director (When it was Homemaking). That was a great calling and one I enjoyed very much.
I've never had a bad calling. As for my favorite, whatever my current calling happens to be is my favorite.

Hey Ginger,
None right now, a few weeks ago our ward split. There were 2 wards in Maricopa, now there are 4.... so we have a whole new bishopric, half our ward is gone... and with Stake Conf. they have a lot of organizing to do.
I was in primary..... Im gonna try avoid any members of the Bishopric Sunday LOL, maybe I can have a break with no calling for a little..... YEAH RIGHT! LOL

Topic: What is your calling?
Hi Everybody,
What is your current calling? I was released from being in YW presidency just 1 month before my wls. I was called to be the assistant Ward Librarian. It is definately one of the "easier" callings in the ward. My hubby's calling as Ward Bulliten guy...is a challenge, we help each other though. What is your calling?...or your favorite so far???

Yes, Laurie,
You are right. In the end.. does it really matter who told who? People are people...they will talk. Especially after you lose huge amounts of weight. There will always be people in the ward or otherwise, who will think we took the "easy way out" so far from the truth!! I usually talk about it to whoever will listen.

Hi Donna,
Thanks so much for the link.
I was doing so well reading the Book of Mormon until my surgery (Nov. 23rd) and an unexpected 14 day hospital stay. I asked my hubby to bring my B of M to the hospital..but I just couldn't read or concentrate..pain meds etc. I missed out on fininishing it along with everyone else by the end of the year....the miracle is that my 16 year old son finished this goal!! We have a wonderful bishop who called him personally to check on his progress each week. This website can get this momma back on track!

Topic: RE: Church Program Cover ideas?
Hi Laurie,
Thanks for the great ideas! I have gotten in a habit of collecting programs from other wards...my parents, brothers and sisters..or just programs left over from other wards. I have some old programs that have pen and ink type pictures of temples. I was told that they came from a coloring book. I also found a great pen and ink picture of Pres. Hinckley out of a FRIEND magazine. The LDS clip art that I bought several years ago..just looks too cartoony to me..but some of the images are very good. I'm not too computer savvy..so I have to tape pictures on the program...once it's printed, who would know the difference right??? Thanks for the great websites...gotta check them out!

Topic: RE: Update
MM, How are you doing with the Vertical Gastrectomy? Are you planning on having the full DS at a later date?
I haven't checked the Mormonism board for a while and it's neat to find someone who has a tummy just like mine, LOL!

Topic: RE: Who did you tell??
Ginger, I have been assistant librarian for several years. I told the Librarian and she told everyone else in the ward. Not only that, but since I had the Duodenal Switch (DS), she has educated herself on the different types of wls and explains to everyone why I can eat differently than those who have had the RNY gastric bypass. (DS patients don't dump on sugars and can drink with meals because of the preservation of the pyloric valve)
At work, it's no secret either and one of the top managers has asked me about the DS. (His wife seems to think wls would be a good idea for him).
With the prevalence of wls these days, as soon as you stop dropping pounds, people will start wondering anyway.

Topic: RE: Church Program Cover ideas?
Ginger, I found this interesting because I am a professional graphic designer and recently was called to create the Relief Society monthly calendar for our ward. I have access to thousands of images at work, unfortunately none of them are lds oriented so I myself have been searching for a good source.
If you are interested in pre-printed program covers, try Deseret Book
http://deseretbook.com/store/search?search=program I think that the LDS distribution center would also sell them. www.lds.org
Deseret Book also has some computer software or try this:
http://www.designca.com/lds/ or do a google search for lds clip art that you can download or purchase.
