Topic: needing to vent
Some of you may be aware from an earlier post of mine that my two youngest daughters (4 and 6 years old) were sexually assaulted over and over and over again through a period of about a year by a 15 year old cousin. The police reports have been made, the girls have had their interviews and their examinations by the professionals who handle child sexual assualt cases, now the case has gone to the Prosecuting attorney. This 15 year old cousin has a lawyer so this cousin has never even been arrested. All the paperwork is going between lawyer and prosecuter. They held a pre-trial conference where this young man's lawyer wrote out a plea bargin and submitted it to the prosecuter. The prosecuter told me he liked the plea agreement but nothing would proceed until we looked it over. I received a copy of their offer and about flipped. This young man was charged with 8 felony Lewd and Lacivious counts. The young man's lawyer offered to plea to 2 charges of aggrevated battery. NO jail time, NO counciling and only 3 years of unsupervised probation. I immediately fired a letter back to the prosecuting attorney refusing this offer. This young man is a manipulator, he is a chronic liar, he is dishonest, he has an alcohol, tobacco and unknow other illegal substances addiction. He has NEVER followed any rules. This young man is my nephew. We love him dearly. He is out of control. If he isn't forced now to receive discipline and forced to follow rules he never in his life will learn this. I feel my girls need an advocate who knows the legal language and knows how to deal with judges and lawyers to make them aware of what is best for this young man. I'm having a terrible time finding an advocate for my girls. I have called lawyers, legal aid, crisis centers, child protection services, public defenders etc.... No one has the time or is willing to fight the system. Sorry, just needed to vent. Melody

Daph, I'll include your friends in my prayers for strength, courage, and wisdom to make the decisions that will need to be made. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but cancer that has spread to both the liver and the pancreas usually can't be beaten. I'm sorry that Chris and her children will have to face this kind of challenge so early in their lives. I do have one suggestion that they may want to consider. Get a tape recorder and tape Nolan talking. Tape him telling stories of his childhood, his life - anything. His voice on tape will be a great comfort to them in future times. They need to do it now while he still have the strength to make the recording. I'll keep them in my prayers. -Melody

Hi, I am about 6 weeks out, and the doc gave me the go ahead for "normal" foods, but to eat very, very small bites. Anyway, I was already doing that before this visit, because I, too, got tired of the cottage cheese and pureed crap! You have to remember that everyone's system adjusts differently, so you are going to find out the hard way whether or not a food agrees with your new stomach or not. I have been craving salt, too, and it seems that popcorn is the only thing I can handle for now where that is concerned. I had been living on sugar free popsicles, water, chicken noodle soup, and applesauce-- so I do get bored. I tried tomato soup with a little cheese in it, and it went right through me. Don't know why. But I do know I won't eat it for a while (nor cheese! yuck) I have a sister who had this about 3 years ago, so she has mentioned that you just have to try maybe one new thing, se how it goes, and if you like it... then there you go. Fatty foods as well as sugar can go right through you and cause the "loosness" while possible at the same time cause dumping. None of those are pleasant, but they are actually what's teaching our minds a new behavior-- a, hopefully, better behavior. And, when you've run outta answers, ask your surgeon, or like you said, your nutrionist. I hope things work out better for you!

Hello There, I have not had to much of a problem with loose stools unless I eat something I am not suppost to. I only had to be on liquid for the first 5 days and then she put me on soft foods, no puree. I eat cottage cheese, yougurt, refried beans with cheese, eggs, tuna, turkey...etc. I just cannot wait until Monday when I go back and see the doctor and the dietician. If the dietician does not add food to my diet I think I will have to take her down. I just might have to be a little grumpy ;o) Well it is time for bed...Christina

The loose stools...I had that for the first 2 months non stop after my surgery. My surgeon and his coordinator both said "Gala, think about what you are eating...liquid". So....that was that. Now I'm 1 yr pos op and same thing is happening again. So no real advice there. As for having peanuts - I was told absolutely not for the first 6 months. Now they are a vital part of my 'snacks' for protein. If you want crunch - wheat thins with some cheese worked great for me. Now a good friend of mine whose surgyer was day before yours is doing the same thing. About 4-5 wheat thins a day w/cheese or peanut butter on them. Good luck. Gala

I ate salted peanuts when I was only about 3 weeks out. I, too, got tired of pureed foods. I figured if I chewed well enough it was the same as being pureed. I even did it with popcorn. I don't know what's causing the diarhea unless it's the oil in the peanuts. Maybe your new body can't handle to oils yet. Good luck. Melody

Sometimes I feel like something is "stuck" and I can't make myself throw up either. I think it's because I didn't chew something well enough. The feeling eventually went away but I think the longest I felt it was for a whole day. Remember to chew, chew, chew. Ask you surgeon about your concerns when you see him. Melody

I'm still not able to eat like a regular person, but I seem to be able to hold more than the recommended 1 oz for this first 6 weeks. I am worried because for the first couple weeks, I took that other bite and it just came up on it's own. Now, sometimes I feel like things are stuck, and I can't make myself throw-up, I've tried. Then I worry THAT's causing harm to my pouch, ring, etc. I do see my surgeon next Monday, so this will definetly be a question on my list for him! Does anyone here know what I'm talking about?
