Personally, I'd stay away from anything that might give you any additional calroes? Is it Slimtime? If so then it would not be very palatable adding any veggies, these shakes are sure sweet and I don't think anything can cut it.

If you need anything, just let me know! It's scary but well worth it!

The Crystal light is formulated so it doesn't have carbs.  Lemon juice on the other hand does have carbs (even if it's not a lot...0.6g in 1 lemon wedge). I used extracts in my shakes.  Could you sub lemon extract?

Yes Bathurst. I have written on my handout notes from the clinic session re the vegetables "no lemon juice or seasonings" and a sad face LOL...that was way back in October and I was hoping maybe I was wrong given that people are using things like Crystal Light, etc

If in doubt, call Monique or Carole. I'm assuming you are going to Bathurst?

I went away from the pre-op clinic with the impression that we were not allowed to add ANYTHING to our shakes and veggies, but I am seeing that others have apparently been told that they can add anything that does not add calories. I was wondering if we would be allowed to add lemon juice to steamed vegetables to give them some flavor. Also I have a delicious (seriously!) green juice that is made from spinach an celery, which are both allowed, but to give it any flavor you need to add fresh lemon juice and fresh ginger - do you think these things would be allowed? I have been thinking all along that I could not use these things to give any flavor to the veggies but it would be awesome if I could!

Congratulations! It is always encouraging to hear about things going smoothly for someone else when you are approaching your own surgery date!

Thanks Terry...I started this process with my family doctor 2 years before I start with Dr.  B in moncton.  I know the 2 years prior was a frustrating journey with my doctor because every step of they way he left me waiting to take the next step...andyou would wait and wait to find out he did nothing and I wwould have to find the clinic or doctor and do it myself. By the time I got to moncton. ..I was so relieve I made it....now since then it's been a series of....wait...wait more...now wait longer but no date in sight.....I have wanted this over half my life....I feel like my life is on hold for this.....but thanks....I know others have gone through this....I just wish the health system would recognize how important this is...how life saving in so many ways this is and start looking at it like it's a priority instead of an elective surgery. ..kim
