Hi, great to hear from local people! Did you have your surgery in Bathurst also?
Good morning! I am feeling great! Surgery with Dr. Beausoleil on Feb. 13 went well, so far no complications. On January 30th I started my pro-op diet, 2 weeks of slim time shakes and at that point my starting weight was 295. Today, almost a month out, my weight is 263. I have lost just a bit over 30 pounds. The best news is that before, I was on an insulin pump and using about 120 units a day. Today, nothing. This makes me delirously happy as I have been diabetic and on insulin for more than 20 years. Yesterday, I walked on the treadmill for almost 2 miles and burned over 300 calories. I have never been able to do that, I had been over 290 for the last 25 years.
The clinic in Moncton is lovely, but a wait to get in, I waited for 7 years. I have only had 2 short conversations with the doctor, the bulk of my conversations gave been with his team, specifically Monique and Rinette. They have both been incredible and so very supportive and patient with me if I had forgotten something.
I feel feel like I have a new lease on life and so happy to have had this chance to get healthy.
Kim, the wait is horrendous and I'm sorry you are still waiting. Take care, it'll come through.
Is there anything that you need? I'm pretty mobile now. Do you need liquids, shakes, protein powder?
Take it easy, you have been through a lot and thank god for Monique!
Congrats on the date! I was sleeved on Feb 13th and started my pre-op diet on Jan 30. It was hard to follow just the shakes for 2 weeks but after the third day, it got a lot easier. I ended up loosing about 17lbs dyring that time and I stuck to it like a crazy woman. The only thing that saved me from that overwhelming sweet taste was freezing strong coffee in ice cubes and adding them to the shakes. Towards the end I didn't finish all of the shakes, I just couldn't handle the sweetness anymore.
Take le care and if you need to chat, I can also be reached on Facebook. It's Terry draded. I tend to check that more often than this site. I'm from Saint John.
Thank you so much. I have called that office looking for a dietician and physiologist in that field and they will not give me any information.
Anything information you can feed me is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Linda

Oh sorry, for some reason I thought you said Dr. Savoie. I hope you hear soon, it is so nerve-wracking!
Did you say you are having your surgery with Dr. Savoie? If so I'm figuring mine will probably be postponed also since he had to postpone yours, I mean it stands to reason that if he is behind schedule then he will still be behind schedule when it comes time for mine...so I'm trying to just accept that possibility. However I am now worried that it might actually run into June, because my only child is graduating high school and of all things I can't miss that.
