My surgery is first that day!
Thanks bunches, Shelia! I am so glad I didn't have to do the upper GI either. I didn't realize how much until I got the the nut class and the other 2 ladies, who had been through it that morning, said it wasn't pleasant! I guess Cook is the only one that doesn't do it pre-op. Weird! As far as I know though, Cook DOES still do the post-op drain. Ugh! Becky said they may have done away with the post-op upper GI by the time we have our surgeries, but we are free to request it if that makes us feel more comfortable. They are so aggressive about finding leaks during surgery and she doesn't think they've ever found one via the upper GI the day after. Of course, there are so many other ways to watch for them post-op (vitals, etc.). Sounds like a good plan to me!
Yeahhhhhhhh Shauna!!! I am so happy for you . It will be here before you know it. You know how time flies!Or is that just with age? I don't know. Anyways I can't wait for you to join us on the loser's bench. Wishing you a speedy journey to the op table.

I already took care of the splinters baby girl!!!!!! I was 1st of the day and had the same ideas as some of the other posters - I knew the staff should be fresh and ready to go (not to make anyone who wasn't first feel bad....) and 2nd I was STARVING that morning....When I was in pre-op I was telling my mom all the things I wanted to eat right then! I would have hated to wait until the afternoon...... again not to make anyone that did or does have to wait feel bad.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
