Sorry
Cindy,
I certainly hope that you do not think that I was in any way scolding you or trying to be critical. I was trying to look at what might be causing the difficulties that you are experiencing and make suggestions that might help you. It's very hard under the best of cir****tances and harder when you are having the kinds of issues that you are facing. Even under the best of cir****tances, it takes a lot of time, trial and error to learn how to feed the fussy pouch... It won't always be like this, but the pouch is still healing and yours is a little further out on curve because of the stricture that you suffered; meaning that it will probably take a little longer for it to calm down and play nice. In the meantime, going very slowly with with highprotien, easy to process foods may be the best bet. I don't know if you have tried beans yet, but I strongly suggest that you do. You will find that they are very high protien and have a good carb count. That one, two punch may do quite a bit towards helping you to maintain your blood sugars. They also tend to go and stay down easier than almost any other protien I can think of.
Please do not feel that you cannot come and ask for support. I know that you are needing more than most right now, but eventually this will get better and you will be able to give more than you recieve ... right now, if you need to recieve support, you need to recieve support... That's okay ... give what you can, ask for you what you need. We are all here to help one another.

I went to the doctor today and I got a "pep" talk on how I was probably eating to much and all this crap and I was only down 5 lbs since Nov 5th so I must be eating, yeah right but it wasn't any use fussing with him about it because he's the "doctor" you know.I'm down a total of 43 lbs since Sept 29th but don't guess that was good enough for the over all view of the weight loss, so he's going to make me come in to the office twice a week and get weighted and "hold my hand" his words until I get thru this. He also lower my insulin by 25 units and he told me not to take my cholesterol meds that my PCP told me to, so once again all these doctor's need to get on the same page. I told him and the nurse I felt like I was being a burden to them and they told me I wasn't the only patient who had these problems and that is what they were there for. The doctor also told me not to be calling the doctor's on call for him at night because they couldn't do anything and I told him I found that out already and told me not to go to the ER because I was just wasting my time and money which is true too if it was anything related to the problems I was having now. I felt like they were talking to me like I was a little kid and no I didn't like it but if it helps me get pass these problems which he assures me I will then I'm willing to be that kid lol.

Is there a nutritionist at the office you are going to? I know at Hickory that there is a nutritionist on staff. We are given a notebook on what to eat and how much to eat at a education session. THen we can call at anytime. Maybe you should set down and talk to the nutritionist.
I think that we are all trying to help you because you are having so many problems. Everyone has a different experience with each surgery. At the clinic where I go there is a guy that has the lap band and he dumps. Ugh. Didn't think that was supposed to happen with the lap band but thats his experience.
I have been told many times that our bodies need time to heal before you put rich foods in our mouth. I think you are just trying to find something that won't make you sick but may be choosing the wrong foods. Livermush and things like crab meat are just too much for the pouch. I know the doctor at the clinic said that our stomachs are like the size of a golf ball. So only 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food is going to fill you up or you are going to get sick. PROTIEN FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know as a diabetic I have always been told to eat peanut butter and roast beef, orange juice. CRACKERS NO. If your blood sugar is truly low then get the glucose tablets. If you are eating something sweet out of habit then you are going to crash and burn. You need protien. Are you getting enough protien in? If not go to GNC and get some of the protien shots.
I think in todays society we are all looking for a quick fix and we think that the doctor is going to be able to help us and wave a magic wand and it will all be better. My doctor states that this surgery is 90% mind over body. I am bad to request magic wand treatment when I go to the chiropracter. I hurt every day.
I am a social eater myself. Sometimes I may go get something out to eat 2-3 times/week. I have got to change that before surgery. I thing your friends are trying to help you get over the depression but food is not the answer.
Did you follow up on the depression. Sometimes I think people are giving you good suggestions but it is not what you want to hear or not the answer you are looking for so you say thank you but you don't truly listen to those that are trying to help.
I do hope that you continue to post. Just remember CIndy we are all trying to help. Many people have been thru this same experience.
Start writing what you are eating down for the doctor so you can say here is what I am eating now I need you to help me. IF you are eating too much you will catch yourself when you are writing it down and realize what and how much you are eating.
Wishing you good luck
Tamara
