Welcome back!!  Sorry about the loss of your mother.  She is in a better place and like you said she was not bedridden for  along time which is a blessing.

Hi Everyone!

Looks like mostly a new group of folks here!  I have been MIA for a long time!  Glad to be back.

I have had some major issues with my lapband and my Dr and are going to discuss my options on Nov 4th!  Probably a revision to bypass.

I spent most of my time MIA taking care of my mother.  Mom pass away from this world into the next on May 21, 2011.  I was holding her hand and talking to her when she just simply left.  It was such a peaceful process for her and I am very thankful that she was only bedridden for a little more that a week.

Anyway enough of that, glad to be back!

Hey guys! So, I'm checking back in! I came home from surgery yesterday and was feeling great! I woke up this morning so weak! I don't have much pain, so I'm not taking my pain meds, but I just feel so blah! Is this normal? When do you start to feel like you're getting some energy back?

Topic: NC State Employees' Health Plan

Hi,

I posted this question on the Main Board but someone suggested that I post it here as well.  I had the lap-band surgery several years ago and haven't had any success with it so I am trying to do a revision to RNY with Dr. Paul Enochs in Cary.

I have done all of my pre-op testing (finished the last one up yesterday) and now I'm just waiting to hear from the insurance company and my doctor's office.  I also have a hernia and my band isn't in the correct place so Dr. Enochs told me that even if my insurance won't approve the revision to RNY that he will be able to at least fix the hernia and redo the band but I really want the RNY.

Has anyone had any success with the NC State Employee's Health Plan approving a revision from a lap-band to a RNY?  I've heard that they won't approve a revision to a DS unless your  BMI is over 50 and mine is about 41 I think but I haven't heard if they will approve a revision to RNY.

Thanks for any and all input!  I'm very nervous waiting to see if it will be approved!

I missed school today. I got off work after working a 12 hour shift at 7 in the morning and drove to school. I had a little time to kill before class started so I dozed off in my car, my alarm never went off and I slept through the entire class. I'll be so glad when nursing school is done. I'm one tired puppy!

Hi,

As several have mentioned, I have a support group that meets in North Raleigh.

I hold a monthly general meeting. The next general meeting is Oct 22. I also have several special interest groups which meet on Thursday evenings. You are welcome to attend any group meeting; it doesn't matter if you don't fit the 'demographic' of the group, you are welcome to come. We are actually meeting this evening in Brier Creek and you are welcome to join us.

You can get information and RSVP for meetings at http://www.meetup.com/nc-wls

You can also PM me if you would like to talk with me privately. I'll be glad to talk with you 1:1 or via private messaging.

I look forward to getting to know you,

Hi,

Yes there are quite a few support groups in the area.  There is a group in Raleigh that meets on Saturdays.  The next one is Oct 22.  Barbara Cumbo is the leader.  She actual has it as a Meetup.  I don't know if you have been to that site, www.meetup.com or not.  But you can bring it up by typing in their, find a meetup, One Step at a Time.  You can also talk to Barbara by sending her a message in OH.

I have a Durham group but hers may be closer.  Hope to meet you soon.

I can't believe I slept until 7.  THAT is late for me.  Yesterday did not get everything done that I wanted. But today is even busier.  I have to get gas, recycling, Rite Aid, grocery shopping, do the books and I am going to try to get to a meetup this evening.  Never been to this place and it will be night driving.  Yikes, I may chicken out.

Oh yea, I am also going to create some events for Nov and Dec in my virtual support group.  I am going to open up a chatroom every Wed. and Fri. from 6-8pm through these two months with the exception of the Friday after Thanksgiving and the Friday before Christmas.  Of course, anyone who is a member of Victorious Losers2 can open up a chatroom any time.  Anyway, it would be great to see some of you out of towners join in.  Starting in November.
