Topic: RE: Recommendations for VSG surgeons?
I found them very thorough. They knew what my insurance company required. Once I completed all my requirements they submitted my paperwork and I was approved within 10 days. The woman who was submitting my paperwork called me at 7:00 in the evening to go over it with me.

I would highly recommend Dr. Ragui Sadek, the director of the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick.  He has done more VSG than any other surgeon in the state with very low/none complications.  His staff is dedicated to getting his patients approved.  For my surgery, he personally called the medical director at my insurance company to get my approval.  I can't say enough good things about him.  He goes the extra mile for all his patients. He takes a personal approach to each and everyone one of his patients.

Looking4hope,

Be it with Weigh****chers, Bariatric surgery, or any other diet/eating plan, remember it takes time. NONE OF THESE ARE MAGIC PILLS!! It's a long term goal, and you need to work at it. Remember it took years for you to put on the weight, and it may take twice as long to lose it. A normal weight loss is an average of 1 to  2 pounds a week. Some weeks will be more, others less.

Know, no matter what way you chose to lose weight, we'll be here to help in any way we can. It's not how we get to the final destination which matter, it's EVENTUALLY GETTING THERE which does.

Good luck!! Know we're here for you!!
Good Luck on your Journey !!

Hi Pat,

Now that makes sense!  I realize that the sleeve was rather new, but I guess if the insurance company only have started to cover the procedure, then it makes sense why most havent done too many of them.  My current surgeon has won awards and works in a "center of excellence for bariatrics" which I also believe Dr Abkin does too.

Now I'm just waiting on 2 doc's pre-authorization letters (fingers crossed on that) and then the paoperwork will be submitted for approval.  Lets hope I get the right person at the insurance company who will approve me!

Thanks for the info... this helped shed some light.

As most of you know I join WW. It is my last attempt at doing it without WLs or my Pre-surgery diet. So I followed all the rules this was my first week and my weight was exactly the same. I logged every piece of food that went into my mouth. I eat at or a little below my points. Just so mad! I needed to vent. I guess this is exactly why the band is calling my name.
