Karen - you look fabulous- hope to see you at the next IGT- I have about a million questions for you.

I am hoping for a TT this summer. Fortunately/ Unfortunatley I do not need the breast reduction - I'd actually love to be able to do a transplant (move the belly flab up- ha ha)

You look fabulous!

CONGRATS ON YOUR UPCOMING BUNDLE - and to stop and think (and thank) the victory you are experiencing. If you're just beginning to gain, then you're really winning. And remember, once you're back into the swing of things, you're band will be refilled and you'll be back on your journey (while enjoying another journey).

Know we're here if you need (well know I won't be if there are poopie diapers)
Good Luck on your Journey !!

Hi everyone...not sure if anyone remembers me.  I was banded on 3/26/10.  Lost 35 lbs.  Then in June right before my first fill I found out I was pregnant.  Ooops.  My doc knew that after 6 months we were going to try for a second child....it just happened a little sooner than expected.

So I'm due in about 5 weeks.  I didn't gain any weight at first but it seems to be creeping on now towards the end.  I'm planning on getting my band filled no later than 6 weeks after I deliver and can't wait to get back on track.  I'm glad I got the surgery when I did because I can just pick up where I left off and continue.  But can't wait to be back at it again!  See you all again soon.

Thanks Pat,

He is awesome, he is away this week and he called me from his cell on his vacation to see how I was doing.. I don't think I have ever had a Dr. do that in my life!

I see his OR nurse on Tuesday to have my bandages checked and maybe my last drain removed and then I see him next Monday when he is back from his Vacation.

I am actually feeling better minus the stomach upset issues from the antibiotics and the iron I am now taking. The red spot on my arm has not gotten any larger and the bump is not as big so it looks like I will not end up back in the hospital (YEA!!) for iv antibiotics.

It will be better soon..

Topic: 12 days out and feeling good....
Good Morning. I had my surgery Jan 10/11 and since then things in my opinion have been progressing very well. Of course I had the bad gas for the first three or four days, but walking around helped that alot. By the weekend I was feeling even better, I wanted to get out and try to do my normal weekend things (most importantly my nails and feet ). So I made up my mind that Sunday it was going to happen. Someone must have read my mind; a friend (lapband patient) called and asked how I was doing. I told them what my plans for Sunday was going to be and of course I'm getting the lecture about how I'm not allowed to drive yet. She picks me up Sunday and once I'm in the grocery store I start to feel why I shouldn't have driven. My body felt very weak and I started to shake a little (I was totally relaxed in that massage chair though getting my feet done).

By the time I had my follow up appointment I felt that I had more energy. I was trying cottage cheese, eating applesauce, I was able to get way more water in my system and more importantly I wanted to go back to work. Doctor was happy with my progress and so was I. He cleared me to go back to work and Thursday morning I surprised everyone (They all thought I was coming back on the 24th). It was like I never left but the welcome I got when the employees saw my car outside made me soooooo happy. I missed them and from all the hugs and smiles they missed me too. Later that day I did my tour around the plant and visited everyone (very slowly though). Even though I did take my time I was exhausted.

On the home front I have tried different types of food and some worked others didn't. I ate the cheese out of a ravioli and diced tomatoes (perfect). I tried ground beef (way too soon, didn't sit well). I tried chicken (perfect). Other then that I'm sticking to the basics.

Overall my experience with this procedure has been great. I haven't had any problems with my back (I have spina bifida), no problems with my vitamins, or water intake. I'm very pleased with both my PCP,and my surgeon and his team.

Im in Colts Neck at Naval Weapons Station Earle.
I dont have any little ones, my only one is in college, but would love a weightloss buddy.
We have an excellent day care center here. And a nice gym, and lots of places to walk.

Hi Stella,

I totally understand what your going through... and it sucks... but hang in there... it will be worth it in the end!  Dr. Fodero is Awesome... and he will always be there to back up his work.  Plastics is much harder to get through than the Weight Loss surgery... and much more chances of clots, infections etc.   I had them all with mine... and my family was SO worried.... so I get it.  Vent away and listen to the docs.  They will take good care of you I'm sure.

I ended up back in hospital with intestinal surgery after my plastics.  Dr. Fodero was away, but called in to check on me anyway... and when he got back in town he came to hospital to see me... even though my issues were not from his surgery.  He is a very caring person!

Keep us posted... I'm sure you'll be all better soon!

Topic: RE: Dr Morris Washington Retiring
My surgeon's group is excellent.  Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeons of Morris.  Dr. Abkin, Dr Bertha and Dr Iannace... and they operate out of St. Peter's in New Brunswick, JFK in Edison, Morristown Memorial, St. Clare's Dover,  Holy Name in Teaneck and Hackensack... so quite a variety of places.  What kind of insurance do you have.... that is a big factor in whether it will be covered or not.

I saw Dr. Washington was going to Retire and I believe my docs said he sold his practice to bariatric group from out of state.... Possibly FLORIDA... so maybe check that forum and you might get info on them.  Good Luck
