Food IS fuel, or at least should be. It's tasty so we will actually ingest it-- kind of like babies are cute so we will make 'em, because otherwise who would want a crying mess you have to feed and diaper?
The pain is livable. There's certainly worse things in the world. It's slowing me down, but not ruining me-- I'll be fine.
