Changing clothing styles with weight changes

Em, It's black leather zip front pants and maroon leather halter.. not distasteful actually.. long waisted top with half back and fastens around the neck.  I was pretty darned surprised my daughter picked out something so nice!  There was a jacket with it also .. but I'm not thrilled with that...  Of course, when I got the c/c bill for it I freaked a little... that's a lotta lire!  Ya.. I GOTTA try to get some use out of that!

Um.. what is it they say?  A woman can't be too rich or too thin?  Now.. Jon has changed with his weight loss.  Of course, he didn't have much to lose, but recently he's back to wearing jeans and he thinks he's hot.. LOL  It's so cute.. he's like "how does my butt look in these".  I'm like "WHAT BUTT"!  Ok.. so I'm jealous.  I can say "I don't like that tie".. and his response "yea.. but I make this LOOK GOOD".  (Ok, Will Smith).. lol  Mama mia.. this diet has created a monster!  His 61st birthday is Friday.. I COULD sabotage his efforts because he CAN'T RESIST birthday cake..     LOL  But naaaaaaaa.. I'm not that rotten... I'm gonna look for a low carb alternative.

I definitely dress LESS sexy since I feel LESS sexy.  I dress frumpier now -- borrow the boyfriend's shirts, wear looser fitting sweatshirts, etc... instead of a more form-fitting sweater, etc... I guess I dress less femine too.  I don't feel like taking as much time to pretty myself up as I did when I lost the weight before.  I look forward to feeling good about ME again and WANTING to take the time to look pretty.  I don't look half bad in the girly look!  I DEFINITELY want to go back to that again....and be comfortable not having to dress to cover up my fat rolls.

I want to dress a bit sexier too... prettier.  Not for work mind you, not for gardening or laundry... but for outings- that could be a good start.

Won't it be great when you can start dressing the way you want?

I guess I have some thinking to do to redefine myself.

This is a subject that has me a bit confused and sad.  Cause I have been fat  since I had my son 22 years ago... well- I guess more like 20 years ago- but what's 2 years? I LOVED to dress nice before. I was never big on make up and such, but did like to dress nice to go out. Well, it's been YEARS since I fit into a size 14/16... I still need bigger tops but things ARE going down :)   I find myself looking at the nicer looking stuff... and realize- That is what I WOULD have worn.... but I'll be 50 in April and I'm not sure WHAT I should wear anymore. The last time I was able to buy smaller clothing- I was in my 20's... I was a mom at 17 so never really dressed overly revealing (is that the word I'm looking for?) but I looked nice and enjoyed the way I dressed. What I'm seeing now is... it's like I almost want to go BACK... not that I'm making a conscious decision to GO back to the way I was before... but more like I automatically LOOK FOR that same look. KWIM?  Problem is.... I am now almost 50. I may be loosing weight and headed towards the weight I was back then... but I LOOK different!  I'm OLDER, my skin feels/looks different etc. I'm not only a mom to 6 children... one who is almost 32... but I am also a GRANDMOTHER. How DO I dress?  I'm kind of lost. I know what I'm WANTING to do... but I don;t want to look tacky either.  KWIM? But what I'm doing now is- I'm shopping at a thrift store- cause I do NOT want to spend a bunch of money on new clothes that I hope to be out of in 2 months. I do find I'm buying nicer tops... with cute necklines etc. It feels GOOD to wear a V neck rather than try to cover ALL of my skin :) I'm also buying COLORS... rather than all black or dark blue.

I say your as old as you feel.  If you find a neat little outfit that only teens wear and you think you look good in it....BUY IT!!!!  Nothing feels more better than to think your a sexy thing in something.  I bought my mom a cute little outfit after she lost a bunch of weight a few years ago.  It was so cute how she bopped around the house in it.  I kept seeing my dad eying her also, it wa neat.  Like if they were teen agers again.  She looked good !!!

I"ll be forty this year and from losing weight once before I already know I go straight for the "skinny" style of clothing.  I shop at Victoria Secret, etc.  It makes you feel good, proud of yourself, confident, and sexy!   That is how I look at it.

Right now tho I feel really sloppy.  Everything I own doesn't fit me well, or it's just plain ugly. They really need to make more woman stores.  Or I should say they need to put more here where I live. :)

Since I start work at the end of the week I'm having the most hard time finding professional clothes that I like.  I guess I'm not that professional looking?!?!  I just hate everything I try on.  It makes me feel old, plus just nothing looks good on me.  I'm more of a get down and dirty in dirt and wear blue jeans all the time, type of girl.  I'm not sure I like this type of dressing up, it's just not me.  I'm trying to find things that barely pass as professional looking without getting into trouble.ha

So go buy yourself an outfit YOU like, not what you think society would approve of!  I don't believe in that.

I know Exactly what you mean!

I guess you sound very much like where I am at.  Different ages but still- I am in my late 30's, but time waits for no-one and I guess I don't know what styles look good and my new body AND look age appropriate.  Sounds like a similar thing to what you're finding.

Maybe by being MO I missed out on that slow evolution through age? Clothes for MO people here are ...limited? designed by people who thinks tents are fashion?

I think I missed and now regret not being able to wear the 'being in my 20's' clothes.  But am now too old to wear them and not look like a 'hoochie' (isn't that what you Americans call it?...)

I guess I want to push to the limit of decent for my age.

Colour- yes that is a new found long lost friend.  I missed colour.
