Listening to my body

Going on Atkins from just regular low GI/low carb choices, wow, what a difference.

Y'all know I'm doing this to see if my weight will  move faster (I'm really competitive and want to win this challenge at my gym).  And you know my theory, lower carb to counter insulin resistance, etc. But wow, how my body responds.  I have so much energy.  Just before my 6am boot camp, my Challenge teammates commented as I ran up the escalator steps.  That's how I felt...boundless energy. Well, at least until my mid-afternoon crash which just arrived.  It's 2:30 and I've been up since 3:55 and now am feeling the--okay, a little tired now....But that's an 11hour day already, so I guess it's to be expected....

How'd the rest of the day end up going?  I know I'm finding myself with loads of energy now. Especially early in the morning, tapering off around 3-4pm. I eat a high protein snack around 3-4 on normal days and protein plus fruit on days i go to karate and it gives me that extra pep I need!  This whole thing the nutritionist put me on is working well for me.  If I start to see some slow down I'm gonna start bullying her about Atkins or at least south beach! :P

It seems like a lot of carbs to be honest, but it's FAR less than I've been eating. She hasn't limited my portions on protein yet, she just says "some meat".  Of course veggies are free. She has me eating complex carbs and sugars. We just won't tell her about the butterfinger I had the other day! :P   Breakfast: (45-60 grams carbs plus protein) 2 starches (30grams carbs),  meat/eggs, 1 fruit (15 grams carbs)   Lunch: (45-60 grams carbs plus protein)  2 Starches (30 grams),  meat, Green veggies, 1 fruit (15 grams) Snack: (15-30gs carbs)     Normal day - 1 Starch (15g), 1 meat/protein     Karate day  - 1 starch, 1 meat/protein, 1 fruit Dinner: (45-60g carbs plus protein)   3 starches,  meat, veggies   150 - 210 carbs a day.   I don't think I even eat 150 though.  I think I might start counting my carbs to see what I'm actually consuming.

I know what you mean about Atkins, I have insulin resistance and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Atkins was the only way I could lose any weight.  I used it to lose a hundred and seventeen pounds. What I love about it is that you aren't hungry.  Even now that I'm on regular low carb, if I have too many carbs, I get cravings for more carbs.  They sure are evil little boogers! It's great for maintenance, too.  When I take a couple of days off, I go on induction for a few days, and all is forgiven. Wink  Are you taking a good vitamin B complex tablet, to turn that protein into energy?  A time release capsule will help get you through your day so you can whoop butt at the gym! I'll be cheering for you that you win your competition, Mary

Thanks, Mary!  Saw 286 on the scale today.   Yes, it's moving faster than on higher low carb, if you know what I mean.
