A quick "Thank You"
Tonight, I got on the scale, after eating, with clothes on, and weighed in at 291, which put my BMI into the 40's (49.9 to be exact). This is not ground breaking, but I feel like there's a light at the end of the tunnel now. So many people have started losing weight, or started WLS in the 40's. So few started where I did (in the 60's) and I always felt like the black duckling, because there was never anyone I can relate to. But from this moment on, there HAVE been people who made it from BMI 49.9 to BMI 25, or whatever. I feel like "If they can do it, so can I". By stepping on that scale just now, I gave myself motivation.
What's my point in rambling at you lovely people? Thank you. Thank you for being my support group. Thank you for being my friends, my family, my little angel on my shoulder. I do venture to the Lap-band board sometimes but I always come to this board first because you guys truly are my family here.
I love you guys. Thanks so much.
Janina, I feel you gf. Starting at 373 pounds and a very high 60's BMI is like the journey without end. It's scary to think you might never get where you want to be and thinking, "If only I was as lucky as so and so to start at THEIR weight, it would be soooo easy." I understand. I truly do.
Congratulations on breaking thru, Janina. It must be an awesome feeling!!!!!

Chicky, I started at 68.3 - .1 above you. Please keep motivated. Remember that "Yeah, I'm big, but I'm doing something about it". I swear - A little here and a little there really adds up.
I know what you're saying; If I started with a BMI of 49, and lost the 18 points I did, I'd be at a BMI of 31. That would be heaven to me. But nope - I started at 68. How I came this far is beyond me, but I managed to do it. I swear to you girl, you can too.
awwww, sniff....luv you too, neen! Your patience is amazing! You will make it.
That is one aspect of lapband that I like, it keeps on working as long as you work it.
Funny you would say angel on your shoulder. I was finishing my supper, kind of wanting more food, but then visualized reporting that extra bit here to you guys, and not doing it!
Yeah, there's no "Honeymoon" period with the lap band. So I can still lose weight a year from now, which at my rate, I'm going to need. As much as I curse out my choice for Lap band over the other faster methods, I'm happy I got it. I had so much weight to lose, that I don't know if I could have done it in the honeymoon periods of the other methods.
"I don't know if I could have done it in the honeymoon periods of the other methods."
Hmmm. I'll let you know! Depends what your goal is--- I have no size goal, just health, which I already have. Still got a few months left on my honeymoon warranty-- let's see how it goes!

My highest weight ever was around 340 and BMI of 55.
It reminds me of The Biggest Loser when one contestant realized she was the biggest woman on the show. It hurt her ego.
I understood that feeling, being well then 100lbs over others who had 100lbs to lose.
It's lonely.
But you've accomplished a lot and will accomplish more.
Believe in yourself.

Good for you, Janina! Hitting that next level for a BMI is a biggie! We can all relate, no matter what the numbers are. Keep on keepin on....know you can do it.
Hope you're not hurting so much soon!!
