I am home!!
I am home!!! I would like to thank each and every one of you that have given me lots of support in the last week. It has been quite the week. First, our Pastor had a mild stroke and was in the hospital. This put me behind on my "nesting" program to get things ready for my sister coming down. Then we had the great "Flood" of 2006 in which we lost electricity, telephones and road usage. All of this the day before my surgery. I wasn't sure that the surgery was even on until I got to the hospital, 1/2 hour late.
Just to get to the hospital we had to go through 4 counties and 5 different routes to be able to stay on opened roads. The pre-op setup nurses were taking bets on whether or not I would even make it in. But nothing was going to stop me!!!
The surgery went well. The recovery was just about what I was expecting from what everyone said. The only thing that I didn't expect was that I wasn't putting out enough urine and so they kept pushing the fluids and bolus(?) and by 4 am Saturday I finally broke open and then they were satisfied. As Carol said, I did have and still do have back spasms which are only helped by hot packs. I did as much walking as I could, but I needed to have someone walk with me because the IV hanger was so bad that it was hard for any of the aides to even pu**** I was able to do everything necessary to get out of there on Sunday and I got home about 4pm.
Today I need to go to the store and get some items and perhaps, if I feel up to it, will go and sit in the car and watch fireworks tonight. We'll see. My sister has been working hard on keeping up with the kids and my house, which wasn't cleaned or had electricity when she first arrived. She has been doing an awesome job. Her husband has sacrificed his time with her for my needs and God will bless him for it.
My Angel, Carolee, came to visit me with her daughter Amber on Saturday and brought me a package of goodies. It was nice of her to make that trip after the amount of stuff going on around us during that week. She looks great by the way. Keep it up girl.
Two of my dear friends from church showed up Sunday and left just before I came home and filled my house with bouquets and bouquets of mini carnations. I must have 8-10 vases full of all different colors of carnations. My house looks like I had a funeral held in it! I guess I could say that it is the death of the old body, that works!
I need to get outside and do my lap around our 2 acre property today and remember to keep getting my liquids in. I will see the Dr. 1 week from today to get the last drainage tube out! After that I am not sure what happens. I will write again when I get a chance. Thanks again for all of your support.
Lovin life on the losin' side!

Hi Laura,
I am so glad to hear you are doing pretty well. Please keep us updated on you, ok? Take care and I wish you nothing but the best!!

Welcome Home Laura,
Glad to hear you are doing well. Sure hope this rain stays away for a while. I was not affected by it, but so many were. Happy to see that you are getting your walks in, much nicer to walk your property than to walk those halls in the hospital isn't it. You will feel even better after that tube comes out.
Have a great day, LOSER!!!!!!
Shannon
