HI everyone ... Newbie here
Hey Jennifer! First of let me start by saying congrats on the upcoming surgery!!! I had lap RNY on May 15th and I feel great. I mean yeah sure I miss food and I get a little bit sad sometimes but if you keep busy and think of the bigger picture you will be just fine. It's completely normal to feel the way you are right now. I found what helped me was posting my concerns and what I was going through on this site, it really helped me. What type of surgery are you having? Well keep us all updated! Your not alone, remember that!

ps Nothing Taste As Good As Being Thin!!!!!!

I know several ppl personally who have had RNY and I only know of one who is depressed. This is b/c she never hit goal and gained 40+ lbs. Granted I'm only 2.5 weeks out of surgery, but I feel wonderful!!! Raked the lawn 2 days after surgery, today I just did all my gardening, helped my dad put up his summer screen house.

Everyone is different, so I'm sorry ppl get depressed, but it's not all WLS patients.
Congrats on the June 5th date, sweeetie!

Welcome. Glad you made it.
Horror stories about food?? Nope. Took some getting used to but you do generally regain your appetite at 6 mos. or so (some before, some after) so it's not like you'll never want to eat anything again. You'll just have to find your way through it w/the help of us here and your surgical team.
I had a couple of small bouts of depression I was able to get over. I was able to work thru them. It isn't something everyone gets by any means!
I was nervous and excited preop. I locked myself out of my apt. twice the week of surgery. Yes, it's normal.

Hi Jennifer I too am new to site and understand your concerns. I would think it would be pretty normal to go thru some sort of depression or anxiety before and after the surgery. I think with a good support system you can get thru anything.
PS......I'm seeing Doctor Cooperstone also. Which surgery are you having?
