Dr. Geiss Support Groups

Does anyone know the info on when Dr. Geiss's support groups are and which is the best one to go to? I am post-op 2 months.

You are probably better off calling his office.  When I attended over a year ago, they were across the street from the north shore LIJ hospital in Syosett right on Jericho Tpke.  He may have changed the night or schedule since then.  I was only looking into lapband at the time.  I went a diff route.  It only costs you a phone call.

Dr. Geiss's support group meetings are the 1st Tuesday of each month, across the street from Syosset Hospital, at the North Ritz Club at 7pm. The next meeting to tommorrow 10-2-07. The other meeting is for post-ops which is the 3rd tuesday of every month at 7pm in Dr. Geiss's office, there is a $20.00 fee for this meeting. I hope this helps.

The support Group on the 1st Tuesday is the general meeting mostly for people looking into the band. It was a requirement to attend one. The 3rd Tuesday of the month is for post-op less than 1 year. That is in the waiting room. I was banded right after you but haven't been to a meeting yet. (I happen to have the paper in front of me right now.)

I am mortified that Dr. Geiss has the gall to charge a $20 fee for support post-op!!  Are you kidding me?????   WOW!!!  I don't see any recommendations coming from me.  Good thing I chose another route.  After what they get for the actual surgery, he should be ashamed of himself!!

Dr.Geiss is not the one charging for the post-op meetings, the post-op meetings are run by the nutritionist and psychologist, so $20- is not a lot to pay. By the way the 1st meeting is for new patient's and post-ops, and there is no fee for that. Dr. Geiss is a wonderful and caring surgeon, and he should be ashamed of nothing!!!!!

When everyone else is FREE, I do think there is a big problem with this.  There are way too  many other post-op options to be paying $20.  I could attend WW meetings for that price.  Have you heard of LIPO?
