Thanks Jane! Lately I'm just spending too much time at Good Sam! LOL
I have the feeling that Dr. Cussatti wants to do it the week of the 19th. I don't have your email address. I will PM you with mine...

BTW are you going to the support group meeting this Saturday? I am going with my daughter, who also is getting her clearances for RNY

Hey,
How many bands have slipped? Mine slipped a couple of months ago and it will be taken out on Monday, Aug. 11, 2008. I do not want the RNY. But am looking into the vertical sleave gastrectomy. Anyone know anything about that?

Just read an article on band failure (for a variety of reasons) 1 in 3 that is or 33%.
I would say that also the literature points to many folks with band removals waiting several months to heal to have a revision (to another band or VSG, RNY or BPD/DS) it is surgeon preference usually and the state of your GI tract. My friend had her band erode in Dec. her surgon wouldn't even consider a revision for 3 months...but then again the band eroded INSIDE of her stomach, major damage there after 8 mo and successful wt loss but much GERD issues.

I wish you well in whatever happens. ANother friend needed her band replaced due to slippage and was sone in one surgery..so it is individual. I have many other folks I know with need to replace their band from the original lapband (too small) to the larger 'big'bo' vanguard...
Placement issues are forever changing as they learn what works and what seems to raise complications.

Sometimes getting healthy before surgery with protein and vits and resting the espophagus canhelp! Keeping you in my thoughts/prayers....Dont wait too long and risk danger or not being able to have RNY due to damage! (megaesophagus, erosion to point you could develop barretts disease, perforation)
