Asking for prayers for my Daughter
My daughter only 18 has to have back surgery tomorrow morning in Rochester. She herniated a disk in her lower back and it is completely pressing on the nerves and the bone has to be removed. Luckily the spinal cord stops just above the injury site. She has been in so much pain since August, it got a little better for a couple months but has now been in constant pain for about 4 months, The Dr. messed around with having her go to physical therapy, some xrays which showed nothing. I finally had to order the Dr. to order an MRI, she kept saying its only muscle strain, and your daughter needs to loose weight. Well she maybe could loose weight if she could move her body. She is where I was before I had WLS. She wants to try to do it on her own, as soon as she can get some exercise. Well the Dr. called back and said to her "well I guess you really are in pain aren't you" after she got the results back from the MRI.
Any way if ya'll could send a prayer her way tomorrow morning that would be great.
I'll post when I get back home with her. Might be a couple days.
Thanks everyone!!
Shannon

Shannon, My thoughts and prayers for your Daughter's surgery, and you too b/c when are kids are hurt we hurt too. I just hate when doctors assume all are complaints are just do to are weight without even taking any tests
.Hopefully after she recovers she won't have to deal with all that pain and be able to get around again.
take care Darlene

I will definately keep your daughter in my prayers......
Mom - don't worry. I had a disc removed from my lower back three years ago at RGH. (L5 to be specific). I also had to fart around with the doctors for quite a while until I found a doctor that said "enough is enough". I was in and out of the operating room in less than an hour.
Just to let you know, the relief is immediate. Don't get me wrong, I still have bad days, but nothing like before the surgery.
If her surgery is anything like mine - they will have her up and walking that day. Pretty wild, but soooo much better.
Be strong - everything will be allright.
Beth
