Every Thursday evening, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm. Albany Medical Center South Campus, 25 Hackett Boulevard in the conference room, first floor. We are a mixed group - all types of weight loss surgery and all stages and all programs. There is even one person that comes that is not contemplating surgery of any kind.
I go almost every week. LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! We talk the good, the bad and the ugly. We laugh, we cry, we share. NO topic is off limits and the topics are patient guided. There is rarely a set agenda. The group leaser is fantastic - she listens to what we have to say and just guides discussions from there.
Feel free to ask any questions.

Fall Success Habits
Temperatures are falling, (in some places it's even snowing) leaves are changing color and it is time to fine-tune our fall success habits. How about a year-end success habits checkup?
1. Revisit your 2010 goals.
Only two months until 2011 - are you on track for achieving your 2010 goals? Make time to study them carefully and figure out what should be reworked and what should be eliminated. Goals are not etched in stone.
Figure out if what was important in January is still as important in October. Do you need to step up the pace to achieve your 2010 goals?
2. Plan ahead for the rest of 2010 and organize your time wisely.
It's not too early to begin thinking ahead to the holidays. You'll be less stressed and have more time to enjoy the spirit of the season when you're not running around doing last minute things.
How about taking out your planning calendar and figuring out what you want to accomplish and by when - leave yourself plenty of time for relaxing and rejuvenating.
3. Analyze what's been successful in 2010 and what you'd like to improve.
Wisdom is about knowing when to change what's not working into something more productive. Motivational speaker Les Brown says, "If you keep doing what you're doing, you'll keep getting what you're getting."
Are you totally satisfied with what you've produced so far in 2010? If the answer is "yes," congratulations! If the answer is no, then it's time to figure out what needs to be changed and begin making the desired changes.
4. Begin your "wish-list" for 2011.
Now is the time to start dreaming BIG for 2011. What do you want to be, have and accomplish during the next year?
Start a 2011 wish-list of all the possibilities for the coming year. It's your list so dream big and bold - focus on those things that will take you forward in positive and self-satisfying ways in 2011.
I believe in you!!!

I will be traveling through Buffalo Airpoprt and be staying near Walden Galleria for a day. I wonder if anyone can direct me to somewhere near by where I can get Bariatric Advantage products.
Thanks in advance, Liz
One book I would recommend is: Weight Loss Srugery for Dummies
It's a great book - it'll give you all the various operations, tell you what to expect pre and post-op and even has some great recipes written by a gourmet chef who has had WLS!!! (Chef Dave Fouts)
Good luck on your journey - we are here for you!
but I know a pretty good one in White Plains and on Long Island ......
hehehehhehehe

If you're getting, a friend of a friend of a friend did it and gained everything back, or said it was the worst thing they ever did - those can be dismissed.
There are risks with ANY surgery. I would NOT have this surgery without being well informed of all the risks AND benefits. You have to be knowledgable to be your own best advocate!
Don't go in blind - get educated in everything associated.
I think I have the knowledge I need, I been reading up on all different types of WLS and I think I am ready for my next step.
