Yes - you can have babies after all types of weight loss surgery. The only thing is -- you really need to plan NOT to get pregnant within the first 12 to 18 months after surgery. Having one before then puts both of you at serious risk of problems due to malnutrition. That being said - having a baby after weight loss surgery does not make you a high risk for complications. Head over to the pregnancy board, there should be lots of info there.

I just currently met all requirements for surgery...all except meeting with the, surgeon and having him send my paper work into the insurance company (GHI). I've been pretty positive abouut LapBand being the one for me but it just occurred to me, im 23 and i definitely want babies...does any form of weightloss surgery harm my chances for future pregnancy? (i have no children now) and i'm starting to look at other forms of WLS and my main deciding factor will be pregnancy. Any opinons?

Topic: Does anyone have any experience with the approval process through Fidelis Care NY?
I am about to start making the preparation for the approval process after my next doctors visit. According to my insurance company Fidelis Care NY will approve any surgery as long as your physican says that the surgery is medically necessary. I am pretty sure she would agree with me on this.
I was wondering has anyone had any experience with going through the process with Fidelis Care NY? Anything to expect that I wasn't told. I tried to drag out information out of them about exactly what I need to do on my part so I can get the Vertical Sleeve, but it was like pulling teeth. How long did you get approved for the surgery? Did you have to go on a medically supervised diet? How long did it last? Was there a long wait?
I would like to be prepared mentally, if this is going to be a long battle.

I noticed that you have just a little over a week before the big day!
Where are you having your surgery??
You are going to have so much fun as the weight comes off!! THat was the best part of the surgery! Losing from week to week!
