Hello everyone! I have just received my surgery date and can not wait! I decided to wait until after the holidays because I have two young kids and I don't want to be miserable for Thanksgiving and Christmas because they just won't understand. I am living in north central Ohio half way between Toledo and Cleveland. Cedar Point anyone??- I've only been there once because last year we went and after waiting for hours in lines, I couldn't fit on any of the rides Looking forward to returning there next year with my new body! lol I'm not originally form Ohio, I'm from Delaware, but my DH got stationed here last year with the Coast Guard and we love it! So, that's a little bit about me. I'm looking forward to meeting some new friends who will help me get though this life changing decision.

Hi Amy! Welcome. I saw no-one had responded to you yet and thought I would. I have only put one message on, about being new also, and never got a response. , so I will welcome you!! I am one week post op. Had my 1st follow up today. My doctor says I'm doing fine and has already changed my diet from pure liquid to pureed. It's so nice to have a change. I've already lost 16 lbs, 8 before surgery and 8 since surgery. I didn't look at your profile, what type of surgery are you having? I had the Lap Band. Less invasive. I can't wait to just loss enough to feel good again!! Good luck! If you need to talk, feel free to write me ..... [email protected]. Donna

Welcome to the Ohio board. I had my surgery at SVC and would be happy to come to the hospital and see you when you have your surgery. Send me an email at [email protected]. I also have a friend who lives in Port Clinton, who had WLS at SVC, too. I can totally relate about Cedar Point. I went this year for the first time in over 14 years. I loved it. Went on the Top Fuel Dragster, Mean Streak, etc. Had a blast. It was wonderful not to have to worry about whether or not I would fit into a ride. Next year - look out world! I had my surgery Jan 13, 05. I am a military mom - my son is stationed in El Paso at Fort Bliss. Good luck, Amy. Linda 367/179/?

HI Amy! Welcome to the Ohio boards... Congrats on getting a date! That is wonderful. I too had my surgery at St. Vincents, with Dr. Ben-Meir. It will be 2 weeks tomorrow...I am down about 27 pounds. My legs and back already feel so much better, and I know this is just the beginning of good things to come. I really liked St. Vincents, thought the care was excellent and the nurses were great. No complaints here at all, you picked a great place! I have young children too, 4 boys, and it has been a bit strange at dinner time. But I know it will get better, and until then I just drink my broth! LOL. I do miss chewing.. Anyway, nice to have you here, Michelle

Hi Amy Welcome to the Ohio board, I justed wanted to tell you that your are in EXCELLENT hands with Dr. Schreiber thats who did my surgery on May 31 2006. He doesn't have much of a personality but he has excellent bedside manners. He explains everything very clear to you and makes sure you understand everything and if you don't he will keep explaining till you do cause he won't let you do it if you are'nt 110% sure of the surgery. So if you have any questions or concerns just let me i'll answer your questions the best I can. Oh but most of GOOD LUCK and MAY GOD BLESS. Jim Start 464/Now 369/ Goal 210

Hi Amy and welcome to the board. Yes, Cedar Point!!! I actually live 5 miles from the Point and have been there more times than I can count this year.. Making up for lost time! Congrats on your surgery date, the time will fly by. I also had my surgery 8/15/05 at St. V's with Dr. Sonpal and feel fantastic. I can give you a few tips about Cedar Point visits and shorter wait times if your schedule allows.. 1) go in early May, other than opening weekend, when the kids are still in school. During the week they are only open reduced hours, but the wait times are alot shorter. 2)if you get a season pass, and you can make it to the park early, pay the extra $15 for the Joe Cool pass. It allows you in the park 1/2 hour before everyone else (other than resort hotel guests and other Joe Cool members). If you glance at my profile around May 2006, you will see me bragging about getting on the rides quickly with the Joe Cool option.. lol 3)After Labor day and the park is only open on weekends, the first two weekends after the season, but before the Hallowweekends start is another great time to avoid long lines.. Of course, this is just my opinion and has been the case this past year.. That could always change, but I have enjoyed it there this summer.. Best of luck to you and be sure to post on the board.. You can email me if you have any other questions, St. V or Cedar Point related.. As you can tell, Cedar Point is one of my favorite subjects.. ha ha ha

Hey Amy, I'm new to this board, too! I'm moving sometime within the next couple of weeks to the Mansfield area, we arent sure exactly where yet. We're military, too, my hubby is active duty in the AF Reserves now, but we're going to be AD Air Natl Guard on Nov 1st. We also LOVE Cedar Point, we havent been in a couple of years, but it's our favorite park! The last time I went I just barely fit on Millennium Force, I was so scared to get kicked off, but I squeaked by, next time I'll fit with room to spare!!! Not sure how far you are from me, I'm thinking we're North Central, too. Congrats on the date, you're going to be on the losing side before you know it! Rebecca

Hi Rebecca, Welcome to the board also. I live in Bucyrus, which is a 15 min. drive from Mansfield. Mansfield has all of the essentials as far as shopping goes and if you really want to some serious shopping, Columbus isn't that far away. Hope you like the area. Peggy

Hi Amy, Welcome to the board. I haven't gotten my date yet, I'm just starting my 3 month supervised WL program. I'm going through OSU's Bariatric Program in Columbus. I live in Bucyrus, which is about 1 1/2 hrs. drive from Port Clinton. Hope you got a really warm coat for the winter. It gets really cold up there. Peggy
