The first trip and questions
Thank you all for this group it is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a lurker, I admit.
But I have my first trip to Barix in Ypslianti, I am going on Monday for my consult. I have applied for OCC, about 51/2 LONG weeks ago, have called just to make sure they have received my paper work, going crazy with the wait as most people do. Of course now I have heard from Humber regarding my RNY, there, I applied over a year ago, and have an appointment in December, but have been told it will be months after my first meeting till surgery, so I think the Barix is the way to go (hopefully). I am wondering if I should have anything besides a few questions for the surgeon? (Dr. Taylor). I have a freind that has just gone through surgery, and I have done a ton of research for her as well as myself, it was a great eye opener to the surgery, she had some problems, but is on the mend now. Also, I'm a little obsessed right now with the surgery, is this normal?
Thanks
I don't know if being obsessed is normal or not, but there are an awful lot of us who are! I think it's natural considering how much time we spend around food, between shopping, cooking, eating cleaning up, preparing etc. Weight loss surgery is a major lifechanging decision, it hard not to be obsessed!
I'm sure someone who has gone to Barix will chime in and give you all the information that you need.
Welcome and good luck!
I am currently waiting for OHIP to make a decision on my ooc app as well but I had my consult with DR. Taylor at the Ypsilanti site on thanksgiving.Super nice guy however if they gave you a 9 am app.be there about 745 if you need to get out early and drive back again I am 5.5 hours from there and did not get out till noon becasue you go for the group consult first then see the doc one on one but that part is first come first serve. He will explain it all very well. and is accustomed to hav ing canadian patients. good luck.
