New to the Group - Hi Everyone
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to OH but have been following the board for the past month as I continue on my weight loss journey. I'm scheduled for RNY with Dr. Starr at HRRH on July 15th. I was just wanting to say hi and was wondering if anyone on the board had any experience with Dr. Starr. I'm a little nervous about my surgery right now.
Thanks,
Katie

Welcome! and congrats on your upcoming surgery. I'm sure someone who's had Dr. Starr will chime in soon.

Hi Katie,
Dr. Starr did my surgery in December and I can't say enough good things about him! He is very thorough, reassuring, has a calm demeanor and has a great sense of humour too. His surgery skills are excellent and I have had no issues whatsoever. You are in great hands!
Good luck with everything,
Kim

Hi Katie -
Yup, both Lisa Schulz and I are patients of Dr. Starr, and we both liked him very much.
Dr. Starr had performed a previous surgery on me a year before my RNY (April 4) and I had an excellent experience back then.
I was therefore quite confident going into the Bypass.
He is very thorough and very patient with our questions. He has performed over 350 bypasses, so his experience with any complications is extensive.
He also believes in checking on you (came to see me three times in hospital) and in followup appointments to avoid possible complications.
You're in good hands.
