headache on Optifast?

Hi - I am now on day 7 of Optifast and YUPERS to the headaches/migraine .

I didn't think of the carb/sugar withdrawals as a cause to the headaches/migraines - as another poster mentioned but that makes complete sense.  I have blamed it on the aspartame intake as my body isn't use to that much artificial sweetener.

Every day I am taking Tylenol extra strength just to get through the days. Some days are worse than others and I am finding (for some reason) - SF jello really bad for headaches.  I am mostly sticking to the Optifast with tons of ice/water and the occassional crystal light.

You can do this ....just try and take it one day at a time.....

I have reached my goal weight ..... and LOVE my RNY !!!!!!!!!

I too had massive headaches. I will be honest, I hadn't 100% cut out the caffeine before Optifast. That was my #1 mistake. I figured as long as I was down to one coffee every two days I would be able to manage the withdrawls. No - it only made it worse with my body de-toxing. Tylenol is really the only thing you can take. If it is PMS related there is a 'Midol' version with tylenol as the main ingredient.

If the pain gets too bad you may have to get something stronger for it, but it is best to let your body rid itself of the 'crap' on its own. Hopefully you will be able to get some rest this weekend and the nice weather will help.

Good news is that for the most part the headaches only last a few days. Mine were a bit longer, but became manageable.

Hang in there. If you need to talk, just let me know.

Poor you!  Two different ends acting up at the same time.  NOT fun.  May you start to feel better soon.

Oh thank goodness....I am literally about to go mental. Feels like I have the worst hangover ever and didnt even get the fun of the night before!!!

Must be carb withdrawal, as I had already switched to decaf....but ya....maybe the carb OVERLOAD the few weeks prior could be making it this bad!! lol

Jonathan: ya I hit the Advil extra strength gel caps for the last time just a few minutes ago...hopefully they will kick in soon!!

Thanks everyone :)

ps-splenda makes flavoured sweeteners and 1stick of  the hazelnut with the chocolate Opti is actually tolerable!!

I remember Steph said that day 3 was brutal for her in terms of headaches.

Yes I had a huge headache. And so weak and tired for the first few days. Then I felt great! My body adjusted and I was ready to go. Keep up with your water that is so important. Good job! You are 1 step closer!
