Allo Monique,
I live in Timmins and my doc wanted me to stay 10 days from surgery date in TO and after 8 I was loosing my mine so I went to his office first thing in the morning on day 8 and told him I was going home...lol...for the travel grant: when you drive, you don't have to provide receipts. They pay you round trip upon your km's....I get 671 no matter if I stay 1 day (which really pays then...lol) or if I stay 8 days...
I coulnd't wait to be in my own bed and I was very comfortable.
Good luck on the 1st, can't wait to hear your progress.........best of luck!
Best wishes,
Nathalie
What I did to help was everytime I got up out of bed after a nap or at night, then next time I got in, I would lower the bed a bit. By the time I was discharged, I was able to sleep flat. Then when I got home, I was able to sleep in bed. I also had a really awesome nurse on the day I was supposed to be discharged, who showed me the proper way of getting out of the bed. When I knew that, I found that I wasn't getting that 'pulling' feeling when I got up and was able to support yourself. I would suggest asking a nurse to show you how to get in and out of bed properly when you are about to leave as most of our beds don't give us the luxury of pushing a button to raise us up into a sitting position!
All the best!
