It is hard to eat especially when not hungery but you just need too. It is important for good healing. I found shrimp and a little ****tail sauce my saviour. The tangy taste is great. Have you tried laughing cow cheese on melba toast? It is really mild and you get the crunch.

Protein drinks are not the best but you just need to do it. I like the ones that are more juice like and you get your water in the same time, Kaiazen vanilla ice cream is also good. Mix it with milk and you get 35 grams +milk worth of protein. It is only a cup so not too bad to get down.

If you are feeling really thirsty you may already be dehydrated. I would give you centre a call and maybe get some bllod work done sooner than later. Are you still peeing? The stress of all the changes your body is going through changes in mood is not uncommon. Again give your centre a call tomorrow and speak to them about getting in.

If you went to TWH ot TEH call the nurse navigator to help.
Hope you feel better soon

Leslie

Teasha, if you have only had half a glass of water for the past few days, you are already likely severely dehydrated. You should go to your nearest ER and tell them you are a month out of surgery and severely dehydrated and need IV fluids. I promise that you are going to feel a lot better if you get rehydrated. I was once severely dehydrated from food poisioning that I thought I could deal with on my own. I wanted to die, my husband had to coax me off our bathroom floor crying to go to the hospital for fluids. In 2 hours I was a new woman, physically and mentally.

Once rehydrated, you need to change how you're looking at this. This is not about preferences and tastes, it is about what your body needs to recover from surgery and to stay healthy. That means 2L of fluids a day at a minimum. Mix up some crystal light and whey protein, or a fruit punch style shake you can stomach, then sit with a tea spoon and the glass and take a spoonful every minute. Do it while you're watching a tv show or something, treat it like a bowl of soup. If you do that, you can drink an entire 500ml protein shake in about 90 minutes. Even if all you get is 3-4 of these for a few days, it will be a step in the right direction.

After you get some water/protein into you, try something more substantial like cream of mushroom soup or greek yogurt with NSA jam (you can get this at Superstore or Sobeys or where ever, everywhere carries this now), just start with a couple of tablespoons and work your way up. Move on to more dense foods as you can, cottage cheese, soft cheese a boiled egg.

What about your vitamins? Have you been getting them in? The best way to approach this, is to think of it, all of i****er, protein, vitamins, like medecine. Because without this, you will get very sick and are likely already very dehydrated. Get to an ER for fluids right away and then this won't be quite so bad to keep on top of.

Hi Teasha

Much of what your feeling is totally normal, still not nice, but normal. Many of us had lots of those feelings after surgery
It will get better.

You can get the protien in with yogurt, cottage cheese. Whatever works for you.
More important than anything is to get your water in. You don't want to get dehydrated.
Keep posting to let us know how you are doing.
This too shall pass

Keep your chin up

Joyce----Today is the first day of the rest of your life

How are you feeling today Teasha?

I concur with what everyone else has advised you.  Think of water and protein as medicine to heal your body.  You MUST drink.  I am extremely concerned about you. If you would like, PM me your phone number and I will call you later this evening to chat.
