Exercise

I can't get to a gym because of my MS and afraid of losing my balance so I was wondering of getting something like WII or Xbox.
Does anyone know which one is better for exercising?

thanks
Barb

The Wii has quite a few activities which depend on balance. Why don't you just walk? That's the best exercise for someone with balance issues, in my opinion.

Hi Barb,

Do you have a pool around you?  If so, what about taking something like Aquafit?  If you are like me, it's hard to stick with something at home, but if I have to go out for it, I'll do better.

Hi, I am looking into aqua fit but I cannot get into the pool because of my MS.  I cannot do stairs.  My left leg partial numb.

I can walk but I use a walker so I am limited to where I can walk.  I have to be on cement or pavement otherwise I lose my balance.  I know you think this is excuses but I wi**** wasn't so but it is.

Still look into Aquafit, some pools have lifts that can be used instead of going down the steps.  The pool in my small town has one.  It would help you to get into the water.  Call the pool directly and ask what options they have for you.

Barb, you will find that several of the pools have easy-entry ramps for exactly the reasons you listed.  Also, they have water wheel chairs to assist you in getting into the water.  Several locations also have therapy pools and programs.  All it would take would be a call to your local parks and recreation department.  Good luck!

You could use your walker and do "mall walking".

Hi Barb!!  When I was living in Toronto, I was told of a place that was totally catering to the needs of people with mobility issues.  I thinkkkkk it was  Variety Village or something like that.  I'll give my niece a call tonight and find out from her.  I know they have a fantabulous pool!    Would you be able to use something like Nordic Walking Poles?
Don't push yourself too hard.  Walking of any kind is a good thing!  Even if you're using your walker, you're still moving!!
I'm already concerned about how i'm going to exercize in the winter, because I'm still unable to get shoes on my feet,  I think I'll be taking my walker to a mall and doing mall walks!
My thoughts are with you!!
Good luck!
