Shopping
We're all forced to be in the malls right now, going shopping for our loved ones. I've been having some thoughts about the need to be careful.
Everything i try on, these days, looks good. THere's no more of that "oh yeah, it covers up the flab ok, i may as well take it". It's more like "omg its a size (fill in the blank for your happy size)!! I'm buying it!!!!!"" I tried on a pair of size 14 jeans the other day, that fit like a glove. omg it made me so happy. But i put them back on the shelf. Why? because i'm not at goal, and they were full price, and it would have been wasting my money, in the long run.
The available choices can be overwhelming.
The desire to make ourselves feel good is definitely there.
It is scientifically proven that shopping gives people a "high".
We need to be aware of what we need vs what we want.
We need to have control over that area of our lives too, especially those of us who aren't at goal yet.
It's so incredibly tempting to buy things because they fit and look good, but we'd be so much better served by having a specific plan in place to shop by. (but of course, leaving room for ultra cute things, or some impulse buys, i'm not saying never give in, but judiciously give in)
I'm gonna make a shopping/wardrobe plan.

So true Monica! I see so many things now that I can shop the whole mall instead of two stores and it's so tempting to go buy a bunch of stuff, but I know that in a few weeks, it's not going to look very good and I'm not going to feel comfortable wearing it because it's baggy and sloppy looking.
Sometimes, if I feel the urge, I buy accessories that make me feel great. I bought a new scarf and gloves for the winter, and I also look for freebies. Like for instance, if you go to the Bay until December 9th and get your make up done (for free) at the Clinique counter, they give you a full eyeshadow kit with three shadows in it for free! It feels good to get a make over, especially when it's free!
One thing I did purchase, which has been really helpful in extending the length of my shrinking wardrobe is buy Perfect Fit Buttons at the As Seen on TV store (or I think you can get them at Walmart now too). They let me where my too big jeans without looking sloppy, so hopefully I can skip buying the next size down and go straight to two sizes down and save some money!

Very nice idea! Lately when I've bought myself something, I've bought something for my parents as well, or Joe. Eases the guilt a little. lol

Monica, you are so right! I've been feeling like buying some new clothes but am not at goal yet and it would be a waste of money to buy new stuff. I desperately need to do a major VV trip.
I love the suggestion of getting some accessories. People keep asking me what I want for Christmas; the answer is gift certificates! I can go to the mall and get jewellery instead of clothes. Satisfies the shopping monster with something that will still fit a couple of months from now!
