Hi I"m about to meet my surgeon this week and wondered if anyone here ever got together to meet and talk and swap stories or do most of you do it here on OH? I" m pretty nervous cause I want the sleeve and I"m not sure if I"m going to qualify for it so it could be a big let down for me this week after waiting so darn long! Anyways, I' would love to meet some of you gals and guys if your interested. I can host a little GTG party of whatever:) Please let me know if you know someone already dloing this or if you would like to help host etc. :) I can't wait to meet some of you!

Welcome to the forum and good luck with meeting the surgeon! I'm sure it will turn out fine. We do have get togethers divided by area, some are Cawfee Talks (which in my experience are a bit more informal, a good way to catch up, ask advice and socialize with fellow WLSers) as well as Support Group meetings (which in my experience are still social and fun, but a bit more structured and can address any concerns or issues you have and to share your experiences and advice with others). I saw that you are in Burlington, and there is a Burlington group. I don't think that we are meeting again until the new year though. If you didn't mind the drive, you could join one of the upcoming get togethers in December though, I know there is a Mississauga Cawfee Talk coming up soon.

It's called the Mississauga Cawfee Talk group, and we're meeting at 6:30 at the Tim Horton's on Lakeshore just east of Clarkson.
Karen M can give you details - she keeps us all organized.
There are at least two people in the group who show up at one or the other of the get-togethers, who have had the sleeve, as opposed to the RNY like the rest of us.
You'd be more than welcome, and I can tell you I would not have done anywhere near as well with this process had it not been for that bunch of people.

Well this is just fantastic! I am so pleased to hear that there is a group! I will certainly try and get to Clarkson on Thursday. I find out tomorrow from my doctor if I get the sleeve or RNY. I am so excited and scared all at the same time. I"m worried about not being 'good'enough or screwing something up and hurting myself and all that stuff. It would be so nice to meet someone who has gone thru this. Thank you all so much for your kind replies. I am very touched :)
