Congratulations.

What happens when you have surgery out of country with respect to your follow-ups?  Is that what you mean that the BC Health folks wouldn't budge.  Did they expect you to go back to Mexico for follow-up care?

Thanks,

Judy

Thank you (:

Right now I am going to a walk-in clinic to get my labs done but now that I have an OHIP card I'll be looking for a family doctor.

When I say that BC Health wouldn't budge I mean they refused to cover the DS surgery in Montreal with Dr. Gagner because they felt the RnY was adequate enough for me even though I had several doctors advocating on my behalf that I should have the DS and not the RnY.

Hey there!

I am currently awaiting OHIP's decision in my request for a DS. I met with the only Ontario surgeon who performs the DS, Dr. Hong at St. Joseph's Hamilton (handy info for you if you need to see someone!), and he supported my decision and has submitted the paperwork for approval to OHIP. That was two weeks ago today and I hope to hear this week!
I'll be doing my follow-up care at Toronto Western Hospital where I did my assessment, and in particular with the dietician, Katie, who has offered to learn about the unique supplementation and diet needs for DSers. Do you follow the Vitalady regimen?
Glad to hear you're enjoying your DS! I hear great things about Dr. Ungston and his team.

Hi!

I hope that you get approved for the DS (and that you hear soon)! I've read your posts here and on the DS board, I think that you'll do well with the DS (:

Katie sounds like a keeper! Hang on to her like a squirrel hangs on to nuts lol

I am following VitaLady's regimen now. It's taken me a little while to get it going but I'm there now :D

Welcome back to Ontario! I've been following your story a little on the DS forum (I'm nosey and I like to watch out for fellow Ontarians. LOL)  Glad to see you doing so well!  And welcome to our little ON family.  Looking forward to getting to know you!

Karen
