Pain Meds Question

I've never tried it, but someone once suggested sucking on an ice cube for a few minutes before eating the crushed pills to numb the taste buds a bit.  Don't know if it works, but sounds like a possibility.

Thanks so much for the suggestions everyone I'm just mustering my way through another percocet mixed with chocolate and white chocolate pudding.. its still disgusting, but I need it too much to care at this minute lol. I had a shower, and I'm in a lot of pain in my tummy at the moment.. I guess stretching in the shower was a bit much!

 Hi,

I am on Perc's also, every 4-6 hours.( for other pain conditions) I find it much easier and quicker to crush them , put them in the medicine cup,  add a" Stronger" mix of crystal light  to the half- way mark of med. cup  (i used 1 full packet to 300 mls of water instead of 500ml's, I used cherry pomegranate flavor.) mix well & chug it down, then add another shot of crystal light to rinse the medicine cup out and then swi**** in your mouth and down it.  I will have to do this for 4 more weeks. ( I was told to wait 6 weeks post-op to take whole pills..)

Good luck!

It's no fun, but in some respects, probably a good thing that really strong pain meds don't go down like candy.  No one wants to take 'em any longer than absolutely necessary!

Haha this is quite true! I definitely want to get off these things as soon as possible. I tried the applesauce again today.. absolutely disgusting! The chocolate & white chocolate pudding mixed together with the crushed percocet seems the most tolerable... I guess that will have to do!

How long were you told not to swallow them whole? I was given uncrushed pain meds the day I left the hospital. Is that pudding you are using is sf ff?

I was instructed to wait about a month, which to be honest I'd rather do. Yes, the pudding is fat & sugar free.. why do you ask?

Why don't you just cut them into super small pieces and swallow them with juice or protein drinks? I took all my pills whole within a couple days of surgey but I know most people couldn't.
