HRRH Blood Lab Results

HI HRRH'ers,

So I had my one month follow up at HRRH today and they did blood and urine labs. They said they would call if there was a problem. In your experience, how long did it take for them to receive the results and notify you? Also, have you ever requested a copy of the results to be sent to you? If I was there in person, I would easily ask for a photocopy but since it is over the phone, am I expecting too much to have it emailed, faxed or mailed?
Any reply is greatly appreciated.

Hi TT,

In my experience, it's taken a long time for them to get back to me about my bloodwork results. I think my first one they did, they called almost ~3weeks/a month+ later. I don't know about getting a copy of the results.

Yep. 3-4 weeks each time for me too. If you are concerned (I was because I was so exhausted) give them a call. Some results take a good week or more to come in. I guess the lab must have to do something that takes a while to generate the results.

No news is good news.

If you dont hear anything back by Monday at the latest you have nothing to worry about. If you did blood at HRRH today then your results are back today. They dont send your blood out like external labs do

Actually some of the Vitamin testing (A, D and C specifically) do need to be sent out and they take about 10 business days to get back.

Really? When I have my blood done at Ottawa Hospital the Weight Management Clinic will have my results within a few hrs. Ill give the blood mid morning and get my results in the afternoon at my appointment.

Ottawa Hospital is a Tertiary Care Centre which has all lab testing ability, Humber is on the Ball but as a Community based hospital it does not have the funding tertiary care centres get so Humber has to send out some of the more specialized testing to tertiary care centres. . .your health care dollars making sense!!
