Optifast oh how I love thee .....
Darren, I did not like the Optifast at first either but after a few days found myself looking forward to them as there was nothing else to look forward to. I did find however, as tasteless as they are, my sugar free popcicles helped. At least I felt like I was chewing something for a while.
You will do just fine and after you see some substantial weight loss it will make you feel better.
Good Luck.

The first few days on optifast were brutal, I was worried I wouldn't get through it. First of all, I'm a Newfie, so big gatherings with lots of booze and good food is something I love, especially over the holidays. So my cravings (of course, every commercial over christmas is about food) were out of control. Also, I couldn't stomach the taste of the optifast shakes. I thought they tasted chalky or something. I had to plug my nose to drink it, and I was gagging while drinking it. I thought "this is day 2, how will I get through 3 weeks?" But then I didn't mind the taste anymore, I actually enjoyed it. And the food cravings subsided too, for the most part. I still don't know how people cooked for family while on optifast.lol
You might take a liking to the shakes, hang in there!

Hey Darren,
I didn't struggle at all...I felt so lucky that I was one to fall in love with OF...nothing added to it + I never had a feeling of eating anything in between shakes....I had my 4 shakes a day and that was good enough for me!
I had 4 weeks of it and was so afraid to freak out that for at least 2 months before my OF start date, I competely "brainwashed" myself and it worked...lol...but I did have, on day 2, a little 1hr panic attack. I had so many feelings come up to the surace, I didn't know what was happenng but realized once it was gone.
I hope it doesn't get to you that way but if it does, we are here for you!
All the best in your journey, you are so going to rock this!

So many good ideas. I like the one about using a thermos, never thought of that. And mixing vanilla and chocolate, and spreading the 4th between the other drinks...
Thank you guys for all the great suggestions....

I think I may also be one of the rare ones who has not minded the Optifast shakes. I have roughly 8 days left and I have not struggled with the taste at all. I am finding the mental part of no food the hardest. Friday I had to serve pizza at lunchtime at my dd school, then do a lasagna dinner at 430 at the school and then she had treat night at McD's. Go**** was TORTURE.
I did try the Crystal Lite with the vanilla and it was terrible to me. Broth has been my saving grace when it comes to supper time. It is hard not sitting with my daughter at supper but this has made it more understandable to her. Sugar free Caramel syrup has been a wonderful addition to the vanilla shake along with coffee. I have not been able to find sugar free popsicles yet in my town but tomorrow I am going EVERYWHERE to look for them. Jello was not a hit for me, the texture did me in.
Good luck with the rest of the Optifast journey!!

You need to look for no sugar added instead of sugar free. Chapman makes some called no sugar added as does Popsicle Brand. You can also buy Mr. Freeze in no sugar added. The popsicles I can always find at Metro and the Mr. Freeze I see at Walmart or any of the Loblaws owned stores.
I am still struggling with the vanilla, as for the chocolate I really do not mind it anymore. I just keep thinking 14days left. I am really finding it hard to get in the 4th shake, I am going to try mixing the vanilla with the chocolate this may allow me to use up my 3 boxes of vanilla and help me get in my 4 a day.
