Learn to Run Program at The Running Room
Jennifer, i was about 225 - 230 when i started the running group (i think... i'll have to check for sure, i may have been around 218)
I had that exact fear, that i was going to be the biggest one there, that i was going to kill myself because i was too fat to run.
there were a couple of girls about my size, most were smaller. Some had run before, some had not.
I did it, i fit in with that crowd, Jennifer. I found then (and subsequently, with my current running group) that, while they are a competitive bunch, they're mostly competing with themselves, and they are VERY accepting. My running instructor was kind, and supportive.
You can do this. This will get you to goal. The program is set up for success, to build on what you're able to do.
I was mid pack, for most of the group, from the first night to the last. I was not the slowest, and yes, i'm not the fastest, i probably won't ever be. But i was middle of the road. And i've never been there. I'm 47 years old, and i kept up with 30 yr olds. I hadn't ever run in my life,
I have this recurring dream, where i can't run from danger. I was like that in my real life too, before last august, when i started the running room. Now, I can run for my life, if i needed to.
Please, Jennifer, believe me, you can absolutely do this.

Way to go Jennifer!! I've been wanting to do that for a long time but haven't worked up the courage yet...but I think I'm running out of excuses lol
In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.

You can do it and warning it can become very addictive. Each time you go out it becomes easier and easier. Mind you there are days you will think why am I doing this. all runners will have days like that. I am doing my first 30k next weekend and I stll can not believe that I have enter around the bay race. Remember it is always your run and don't worry about staying pace with the person beside you. Run at your pace and you will be just fine.
You are going to love it! Honestly, I just started it on Monday, and was SOOOO incredibly scared. I was sore after the first run, but they really start you off slow, and teach you HOW to run! Imagine my surprise when not only did I survive, but I lead the pack most of the run....CRAZY!!!!
Great work on taking the next step! Can't wait til my first 5K!

Good for you. I did their walking program about 10 years ago but was very disappointed as it was advertised as a beginners program but really was not. I hope they have improved their programs so that you get what you need. I was too embarassed to tell them - hey what about me - but now realize I should have said something as I paid for the program too.
