incision question

This may be a dumb question but I am getting paranoid about it . .there are 2 of my incisions that are more tender now then they were at the hospital..I'm thinking its because they are healing just like how a scab would..they happen to be the larger incisions ...I think I hear so much about infections and abscesses that I am making myself crazy...normally how long does it take for them to fully heal ?... My surgery was on august 14/12..
I appreciate any responses as I tried to search for some answers and got nothing .
Thanks Mary

i have the same problem with one incision, it just won't heal.  It starts to and gets gooey under the scab and it falls off still not healed...and I am one month out yesterday.  What is abscess anyway?? Thanks for posting this i will hopefully learn something too!

Melissa!

Oh but my incision doesn't hurt, it is beside it a little bit away from it that hurts, on skin that has nothing there but still hurts!

Ok I looked it up and mine doesn't look like abscess....whew!

Melissa!

Surgery was July 19 2012, and I am doing great!! Only one regret....wish I did this years ago!!!!

I am one month out as of last Friday and my biggest incision is still not completely healed. In fact it opened up a little about a week ago, which really freaked me out. I was told as long as there's no pus or a lot heat/redness, it's fine. My other incisions healed up and closed over but the biggest one seems to be stubborn.

My hubby's incisions took 10 days to heal except one took longer.  At one week out, the biggest one was oozing.   That one took longer.   I took out his staples on Xmas day :/)

Mine were all healed over within 10 days.  Some tenderness is normal, but any oozing might be a cause for alarm espcially if its liquid is not clear..   calling your clinic is probably a good idea.

I would refer this to your surgeon. He/she is interested in reducing post op complications and has the best knowledge. Take a digital picture and email to them.

I personally went out and purchased new steri-strips, cleaned them up and put new steri strips on them, maybe putting a new steri strip on it will help it heal closed!!! I got a box @ shoppers drug mart for under $10..
