Had a session today at 14.5 months out.  Everything is looking really good.  My hemoglobin has gone up since July, I attribute this to the daily shake I make with spinach in my nutribullet.  A few other things have shown improvement since July, and all my bloodwork and various levels of everything were in excellent shape.

I continue to deal with my body image issues, and my thoughts that I "should be doing better."  I have lost 100 lbs, actually hit 101 for about an hour at one point!  And I hover between 176 and 181 at any given time, so whatever fluctuations I have appear to be water retention issues.  I am very happy to have lost 100 lbs, and grateful for every benefit that it has afforded me.  I'm learning to view myself as an individual with individual results, and that comparing my progress to that of others is not a good thing to do.

On checking my abdomen, the NP noted that I have "alot of extra skin."  That's definitely going to account for some poundage!  I'll go back in January, and we'll set in motion a referral for plastics - I'm thinking that I'd like to see Dr. Nan in Scarborough - I like the sounds of the fleur de lis, but of course, he'll check me out and make his experienced recommendation.  This hanging giant skin tag of a panni really depresses me some days, and I'd like to get the upper abs done to help pull some of my side flab tighter.  NP doesn't feel that my skin is going to make much of a rebound, so it's time to consider surgery.

So, I continue now to carry on making mostly right choices, learn to love myself more every day just as I am, and continue to try to be an inspiration to others, and a support wherever I can.  My niece in Wpg is preparing for her surgery which will hopefully be later this month, and it makes me feel very happy and useful to be able to help her prepare.

And in the meantime, if I happen to drop some more, that's great.  Otherwise, what I see in the mirror is slowly starting to look okay!  Nothing in the world would have prepared me for the head game olympics I have going on in my head, but I'll get through it and win!  Thanks, all, for your support, understanding, tolerance, and encouragement.  This is a great place to hang out!

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

Megan, what a wonderful post!  Such honesty and humility.  Your struggles with body image are very familiar to me too...it takes time and patience (and work!!!) to overcome them.  You have such a positive outlook; thank you for sharing this today.

Congrats on being vigilant with your nutrition and your weight loss.

Thank you for sharing your struggles with body image.  It helps to know that not everything is rose coloured on this journey, and yes there are solutions such as plastic surgery.

All the best.

I'm interested in your spinach drink that sounds good for you can you share?  We all do it our own way and that 100 plus skin sounds awesome . I'm excited about your next steps and your niece is very lucky indeed .

There's an infomercial out for the Nutribullet. It's hosted by a guy named  David Wolfe who is some kind of longevity expert and has written books and has a PBS program too.  The infomercial caught my interest because it talked about unlocking the micronutrients in our food, and I figured with my compromised digestive system, being able to get the most nutritional value out of my foods wouldn't be a bad thing.  Sorry, long story.

Anyway, each morning I have shake made with a good handful of spinach, a bit if kale when I have it,some blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, plums, bananas, strawberries, basically I throw in about 3/4cup if whatever fruits I have on hand. I add a good dollop of Greek yogurt, no less than half cup, flax seed (this machine pretty much pulverizes the seed, I'll add goji berries, almonds, maca powder (don't really know what this is but its good for you!), a splash of oj and a bit of water. Blast it for a half minute or so and voila!  Each one tastes different depending on what combinations you use. I really enjoy there drinks, and my 18 month old grandson is all over my to share! And it's so very good for him as we'll, provided I've left the almonds out.  I highly recommend. You can google and YouTube more info.
