I run The O.W.L.S. (Ottawa Weight Loss Surgery) Closet. We are a local clothing exchange and social group stemmed off of a couple of the local support boards on Facebook and also OH members for those having had or going to have WLS. We meet monthly for a large clothing exchange and potluck in the East end of Ottawa.

They shipped me toronto for more tests.I started losing my vision the flight to toronto. They told me to calm down and things should get better, but it didnt...it actually got worse where i couldnt see at all.So rushed me in for MRi scan and seen the area on my left side of brain and couldnt not give me an answer except it was from surgery. That night i had to pee so went to the bathroom by myself(bad idea)cuz i feel not being able to see.nurses brought me back to bed.
i then found out that i didnt just lose my eye sight i lost the feeling in legs too.So the brain specialists says their explantion is it was all from surgery i had done.
that is as much as i know....ppffttt tired now..lol
I have to agree with Melissa. It is not good enough for them to say 'it's from surgery'. What do they mean? How did the surgery cause these complications? Do they mean it is from nutritional deficiencies from you not taking any vitamins for a couple of months? Did you injure your head when you fell in the hospital? Were you deprived of oxygen at some point that caused brain damage? It just doesn't make any sense and I would not accept what you are being told. What exactly is cusing these symptoms and what exactly can be done about them? Have you had extensive blood testing to check into deficiencies? If you are unable to eat or drink or take vitamins, have you been put on IV nutrition? Were you put on a PPI after surgery to try to prevent ulcers? What have they done to treat the ulcers?
You need to be your own health advocate in this matter and not settle for what they are telling you. It's a good reminder for all of us how important it is to advocate for our health.
Have they ruled out Guillain-Barre Syndrome? Chantelle R. had this back in 2007, shortly after her surgery. She wasn't able to eat or take meds either, and ended up with a B1 deficiency. She had quite the road to recovery, but something she says on her page and in person, is that she would still have the surgery all over again. Her total weight loss was 240 pounds. Maybe ask about this?
