New heart monitor

I was really dreading today. I have had some issues with blacking out so I had to wear a heart monitor again. For anyone who has worn them you know you can not shower with them on. I have to have it for two weeks. Two weeks without a shower!

I am so relieved I have one that is called a loop. I can take it off to shower. The only draw back is I have to phone in the results everyday. The tech told me if I do not they send the police ambulance and fire dept because they think you are dead! Not sure if he was just trying to scare me so I do the phone in but I don't think I will take the chance.

I just had a loop monitor on. It was supposed to be for 2 weeks, but I had a major reaction to the adhesive connectors so the dr let me off at a week!!!! That was a bonus as it was a pain in the butt!!! Turns out I have an extra atrial heartbeat. the dr shrugged and said have a nice day.
I had to phone mine in too, not sure if it's the same little unit, but mine squealed like a fax machine for 10-20 mins. Depending on how many "events" it recorded. I buried mine in pillows to muffle the sound.
Good luck with your results!!! I hope they get you all sorted out.

Greeneyez. It sounds like the same one. I know I have atrial fibrillation, have for some years. It is just that now at 61 I am exercising a lot more and not reacting well to it. I did this surgery to get healthy so will not stop the exercise just need to find a way to do it and not black out after.

Hi Pat, I sincerely hope they sort out what your problem is and get it treated. Do you have a pacemaker now?

No pacemaker. I am on blood thinner Pradax. It is one of the few drugs I still take. I'm off home soon. Will wash walls to see if my heart rate goes up. LOL
