Traveling with protein shakes?

pre-measured powder in seperate baggies, but remember to keep a couple with you.  NOt as heavy as pre-mixed shakes for one thing and not as m bulky...I mean you can tuck it anywhere in your luggage

Maybe protein powder is packed that way to look like a larger amount than it is..but isn;t everything..you open a box of cereal and it's only 3/4 full, that goes almost for anything that's not in liquid form.

Most ships handle dietary requests well if made in advance..I would check into that as well.

I had a question for you..not sure how far out you are from your surgery and if you will be eating any ship food?

if you are then why 80 grams of protein in shakes rather than trying to get some of that protein in natural form like fish or chicken (if you are past the soft food etc stage)??

I am 2 months post op.  I like the shakes in the morning.  I can eat anything but I find that first thing in the morning I dont want to eat ...so the shakes keep me going until mid morning snack and with them I'm sure to make the 80 - 90 g protein every day.

I don't know if I'll be able to find greek yogurt on board of the ship either and that's my second great source of protein so I want the shakes just to make sure I get enough protein.

Congrats on your weight loss...we started almost at the same ...I was at 311, now at 265.

awesome...yes I like my morning protein shake, but at almost 4 years post-op I only substitute another shake if the family is having something gorss like KFC chicken or deep fried chicken balls etc..

Not sure if you are using more than 1 scoop of protein at a time...your body does not absorb huge amounts of protein in a single intake...it's not a case of drink 60 grams and absorb 60 grams..that only works with body builders.

My surgeon instructed me to choose a protein 26-30 grams in one scoop, he said anything more is like flushing your $$ down the toilet..and that's from my surgeon...Just a thought in case you are adding two or three scoops to your water/coffee etc thinking that you are getting 60-80 grams in a sitting..which I don;t think you (think you are)..if that makes sense

Continued success.it's a wonderful journey~!
