My protein shake experiment

I will start by saying I was really tired and feeling sorry for myself yesterday. So in the afternoon I went to make a protein shake. I poured the chocolate almond milk into the blender. I didn't have enough so added some vanilla coconut to finish that off and make a cup of liquid. Since i was adding things I decided to throw in a scoop of greek yogurt. While I had the fridge open I saw a sf chocolate pudding. Well that would give me the chocolate flavour right. Then since i was so tired and needed a boost I put in the two scoops of protein powder. I usually only use one and save the calories.

I must say it tasted awesome. Then I realised I better track it in my spark people log. Well the calories were over 300!! This is more than any meal I ate yesterday. No wonder it tasted so good.

Moral of this story for me is make sure I know before I start what I am making and what the resulting calories will be.

Definitely a treat. I am not exercising much right now so do not need the calories

crazy how calories sneak up on you eh? It's all healthy and within your recommended portion so you don't see any harm. Last week I had a banana, veggies and guacomole for a snack and bamm, 300 calories!

I probably would not have felt so guilty if I had not been such a couch potato all day

Good for you for realizing this. I see people online who are doing these major shakes with a million add ins and often they don't realize how many carbs they are adding. Their "protein" shake quickly turns into a carb shake.

That was one of the reasons I posted. I have read some interesting shakes on here but know I could not handle the carbs or calories. There are not enough hours in the day for me to exercise them off. LOL
