Has anyone ever taken liquid calcium after surgery, instead of chews? I honestly was listening at pre op orientation, just a little too much info at once! Thank you

I was given the liquid calcium while in the hospital both days.  I was immediately nauseaus each time!  Grabbed the kidney dish just in case.  Have never bought liquid calcium due to this not great experience.

I use the liquid calcium. It is called Wellese and I buy it at Costco. When I first started it I didn't like it but used it because I didn't want to waste it. However I have become quite used to it and I like it now.

I purchased the Rexall Pharmacy brand Liquid Calcium...it's pretty gross but I bought when they had a buy 1 get 1 free sale and have 4 x 500ml bottles so I am stuck with it for a while. After taking it for a few days it is not quite so bad, but I still make the "little kid gross face" when swallowing LOL

I did Wellese liquid calcium for the first month. Started the day I came home post-op. I had no issues taking it. But by the end of the month I couldn't handle the taste anymore and switched to pill form.

A lot of folks seem to have tolerance issues with the liquid calcium.  The standard that the Ottawa clinic would like folks to follow is the Jamieson chews post op,then once you are able to swallow pills, the Jamieson calcium citrate with D pills.

Good luck!
