OTTAWA?

Brand new member here! Reading so much of your forum posts and comments are inspiring, informative, educational and just all around great to read. 

Wondering if anyone is from Ottawa or area? What surgeons have you gone to/are looking at? Thank you!!!!

I'm an hour and a bit south of Ottawa, and am scheduled with Dr. Mamazza.

I'm 25 mins west of Ottawa and I had Dr. Raiche

I'm from Cornwall and had Dr. Raiche (she was fantastic!). I'm 3 months post op. I haven't heard a negative thing about any of the Ottawa surgeons. Good luck to you.

Dr. Yelle is the third surgeon.  I haven't heard anything bad about any of them. 

I'm not sure you get to choose which surgeon you get to start with, and that may not be the surgeon who does the surgery.  But they are all very good.

I live in Kingston but had all of my appts. in Ottawa and surgery was with Dr. Raiche on March 12/13.

I'm in Ottawa.  I had my RNY on March 14 with Dr. Raiche.

There is a monthly support group called the Bytown Benchers.  We meet the first Wednesday of the month at Bronson Centre.  The meetings usually run from 7:30 to 9:00.

The next meeting is on July 3 and runs from 7:00 to 8:30.  Jennifer, one of the dieticians at the OWMC will be there as a guest speaker.

The meetings are $3 to go towards the cost of room rental.  Also, there is usually a clothing exchange during the break.

Thank you so much for mentioning the support group!  I got on this site specifically to find one.  July 3 is during my vacation but I'm gonna try to make it.  I'm week 2 post-op and I need some support.  I had Dr Raiche and she was wonderful - as was all the surgical and nursing staff at the Civic.

There is also a coffee night, where a bunch of post-ops meet at Starbucks on Hunt Club.  The next one is June 24.  We have a Facebook group for Ottawa people.  I'll send you the info.

I'm from Ottawa and had Dr. Mamazza for my surgery (but initially met with Dr. Raiche).  All are excellent!
