So apparently I've turned in to a blood hound.

My sense of smell has gone super sonic since surgery. Last night I saw my brother for the first time since surgery and the stench coming off him was nauseating. He eats a terrible diet, lots of grease and fast food and pizza, and last night all I could smell was something like... old grease and processed tomato sauce. He just smelled like he'd been deep fried. No one else could smell it though and I've never experienced that before. Today my mom had scrambled eggs and ham put in the frying pan for a minute on a tortilla for lunch and I had to go all the way upstairs because of the smell of the fried ham. It wasn't even fried, more like heated up a little but the smell was so gross. It's so weird! Yesterday I went to the barn to brush some burrs out of one of the horses' coat but the stench of manure gave me a headache. I didn't love the smell of manure before but I could be around it no problem. This sensitive nose of mine is pretty annoying, I really hope it goes away!! My brother isn't going to change his eating anytime soon but at this point I can't stand to be around him!

I feel for you. It happens to a lot of us. For me it was the smell of McDonald's. My son no longer gets his once a month Big Mac treat as I can't stand the smell. Even if he eats it out of the house, when he comes home I can't stand it.

The other thing is bacon. Can't cook it at home and have trouble going anywhere that it has been cooked and that is 2+ years post op.

Oh the joys. It does get better. There are some things I couldn't handle 2 years ago that are not so bad now.

It's the Ketosis that makes your sense of smell super sensitive, it does get better in a month or so.

Yep , thats me. Mine is super sonic as well. Smells are sooooo strong and some that didnt bother me before now do. Body odor on someone is the WORST. The smell of smoke really bothers me too. And our cat box i can smell all the time .It can be just cleaned and i still smell it. And the box is scooped and cleaned twice a day and has never been an issue. And nobody else in the house smells it lol. And certain coffees stink really bad to me. I am almost 4 months out and things are getting better . I hope it gets better for you as well....Good luck......Krista
