Did anyone drive themselves?  Is it possible to drive home after or is the pain too bad?

You can not drive yourself home - They have to release you to someone who is of sound mind to drive you home. Not because of the pain. But because of the pain meds

I needed a pillow between me and the seatbelt and every bump in the road hurt.  Don't think you can drive with the seatbelt snug up against your tummy.

Wow...now see I just came home today and I totally could have driven myself...even at an hour away. I think it all depends on your pain tolerance.  The hospital did not check to make sure someone was actually driving me....I just told them when my husband was at the front door and they said goodbye!

t's actually a well known fact that it's not safe or encouraged to drive for a week after a general anaesthetic., your reflexes and reaction times are adversely  affected.

Be safe.

i always thouht myself to be a 'tough cookie', but, alas, i was a complete reck for a good 5 days post-op.  pain AND still pretty numbed out by the ana.  no way in hell was i able to drive myself home after only 2 nights in hospital.

but, as you can see by the responses,  everyone is different!
