pills
Ok I am 3 days post op... I have 3 pills to take in the morning and I am in absolute fear of getting anything stuck!!! Today I took my tiny thyroid med waited 30 minutes took my prevacid and next up is the stool softener again I waited 30 minutes. I have another stool softener to take later today.
Any thoughts? Should I change up the order put the prevacid last?
And hot damn my uvula (hangy ball thing in the back of the throat) hurts!! Any suggestions on how to heal it up quicker?

Welcome to the bench! Each day gets better.
i was worried as well, but honestly, my Dr was fine with not crushing all my pills. I would take Prevacid first, I have since day one, I have never had an issue with any pill getting stuck, they will dissolve so you don't have to worry about that.

Time, rest, and fluids will make your old uvula feel better!
I didn't start taking any pills til the end of 2 weeks post op. Synthroid is tiny enough for sure. Did you not get the fast tab prevacid? I take my prevacid first, I want that to start working before any other supplement**** my pouch.
If you are taking colace and are concerned about taking the capsule you can buy it over the counter in liquid.

I found the order didn't mattter, as long as I waited a bit after each pill. Pills still get "stuck" in my throat, but a trick I learned from my grandfather years ago was to smile as they're going down. Not grimace, but actually put a great big smile on your face. Something about using those muscles helps things move along in your throat. If you feel like your pill has gone down, you don't feel it in your throat, take a few sips of water and when you're ready take the next one :) But honestly, if you feel comfortable waiting 30 minutes between each then keep doing that. Post-op it's about just getting down what you need to get down without causing harm to yourself. So wait if you need to wait :)
(But even if something does get stuck because they're pills just keep sipping water and eventually they dissolve.)
For your sore uvula maybe try having sugar free candies to help keep it moist? It could just be left over soreness from the breathing tube that will calm down on its own in a few days. It just needs some time maybe! :)

you can get an over the counter numbing spray for your throat and/or lozenges.
i always get a really bad sore throat after any surgery so it's a must for me.

Please see a local physician in regards to your sore uvula. It might not be from the intubation for your surgery. There are many reasons why and some are very serious so please get it checked out.

I had a very sore throat from intubation and the centre suggested sugar free popsicles... they felt wonderful and it was all better after about a week!
